I was born and raised in Africa and attended a well known traditional church until my days at university. I then joined a non-denominational group. Since then, during my travels, I have attended various denominations as each place offered opportunity.
I landed up in the US recently and am making heavy work of finding a real spiritual home. We are all sojourners in the land and citizens of the Kingdom, so that is where my fellowship lies these days. I am always amazed at how the Spirit keeps us tied into whatever the Lord is doing worldwide, no matter where we are. He is the all in all, and, in Him, I am kept wherever I go.
I was raised in a traditional church and went through the motions there without much fulfillment. When I went to University a friend told me about his missionary brother from whom he learned about salvation. From that time the Spirit drew me to the cross until His conviction laid so strongly on me that I knelt down, asked for forgiveness and prayed for Him to be my Lord and Savior. A great peace immediately filled me and the next day I woke up bursting with life. I said nothing about it but people kept asking me what had happened to me. As I didn't know, I couldn't really say. My friend's knowledge was limited (he was not saved!) so he told me to read the bible. He also related his brother's experiences with healings and other signs.
I found I had a huge appetite for the scriptures and the Lord showed me so much over that period. He also taught me directly, as I often answered people's questions with scriptures I had not read - finding them weeks or months later.
I was found by some student Christians and taken to a non-denominational church where I stayed for the rest of my time in that town. Over the next few years we were privileged to see God working on campus in incredible ways and a large fellowship sprang up there.
From that time, I have known that God's love is indescribable and His grace unrestrained. He has promised to be with us 'always' and this is so true! His Spirit leads and guides us, counselling and comforting on every occasion. Long may I 'only believe'!
