I Comes Before E, Except After C or does it?

Dating back to the 1866 Manual for English Spelling as a footnote, there is one mnemonic phrase we have all more than likely heard.  Probably many of us have used it most of our lives until we had the spelling of a word under out belt. Thank goodness for spell check these days, eh?  The phrase in reference is the letter I comes before E €“ except after C.

Completely out of the blue today this phrase stuck in my head.  Why would a silly but usable mnemonic come out of nowhere?   So, as usual, when something gets stuck in my head, I ask God "What's this? And what do you want me to do with it?"
This is what He gave me and He related it to people.

"For some , I comes before Everything. Whether I, as in self, or E as in everything €“ they come before me, Christ."

The importance of this simple little analogy spoke volumes. He proceeded to share that no matter how you spell a word, the self, I, and E as in everything else comes after C for Christ.

Possibly we've had that "I before E" theory so ingrained in our heads to the point that we over use it, over think it, yet under play it.  When writing about self or a point you want to make, it is so easy to just start off telling about me, myself and I.  When we're in a conversation, it is so easy when someone asks, "How are you?" it is just common to say "I'm fine. How about you?" and the me, myself and I become a tennis game of responses.

So, what point was the LORD trying to make?  Maybe He just wants us to start practicing a different mnemonic.  Christians particularly!  Our words are important, but it is our thoughts that He wants to realign.  Our thoughts, which kicks our mouth into speaking or our hand in writing in gear; take seed out of what is in our hearts.  His phrase to help us remember the order of our thoughts would be C always comes before I or E. We know it does in the alphabet.  But we believers have a different alphabet standard.

Christ should ALWAYS come before Everything and especially before me, myself and I.

Whether in word, written or spoken€
Matthew 12:34 "€ ...For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."

I'm likin' it . The Spirit wakes us with these reminders that seem so simple...except they become profound as we translate them into perspectives. Our sincere care for others and their well being is a measure of our love for Him. You are right about those how are you-can't wait to tell you about me encounters; Yet, we may be meeting a need... which turns into a seed of opportunity to have real dialog. milt

Yes, many times the LORD will create the opportunity where we may be meeting a need. And that is where we need to be in tune with the Holy Spirit like never before! For if we are doing all the talking, how can we hear Him and what He is trying to show us.
