Some people say that some of these are "not for today's church" or were "for the early church only". I think this is probably wrong having been a minister for going on 20 years, and seeing some pretty amazing things happen that I never thought would have been possible, by both the newest of God's children as well as extremely devoted Christians pushing the boundaries of the modern church.
Some people say that every Christian has at least one of these gifts within their live. I fully agree with this statement. While many of the gifts are reserved by God for a very select few, the larger percentage of the gifts listed are what the largest majority of Christianity makes up.
Some people say that the average Christian does not have more than three of these gifts within their life. I think this is also true. While there are some Christians who have been able to mature into having more than three gifts, it does seem to be that the vast majority of Christians do not posses more than three of these "gifts". Yes, they may 'present' such qualities in their live, but they do not 'possess' those qualities within their lives.
Some people say that some of the listed gifts should not even been considered gifts at all. I think this is farm from being inerrant. But I am a literalistic believer and thus I believe that what the Bible says, and what the Bible presents, is true and factual. For me, if I see something in the Holy Text, something that is 'of God' than I believe it exists, and as the Word of God clearly presents, what was true yesterday is also true today and tomorrow.
