Oh John,
Thank you for posting these! I was delighted when I found the video footage of The Victor yesterday and put it in the blog. I'd seen all of those other wonderful ones as well. I never had the opportunity to see him live but I remember hearing the news of his death. No one could believe it!
My husband (well, he wasn't then) introduced me to Keith Green's music back in 1978. Oh, how the music God had given him burned within our hearts and it still does today.
When you were talking about the live videos I remembered an incident his wife Melody had written in his biography, No Compromise. Usually when music is recorded you lay down the instrumental tracks and then the vocals are done separately. This didn't work for Keith. When they tried to do it this way, things seemed to fall flat so they tried doing the vocals and piano simultaneously and discovered that was the way he had to be recorded.
The blunt honesty of No Compromise, which was taken from his journals, and traveling with him as he came to the realization that Jesus was indeed God incarnate and following his struggles between legalism and grace and his passion to sacrifice everything to God make his biography a must read!
Thanks again for posting these. Now I'm going to get busy listening!

I first became aware of Keith Green while in California in 1977-78. I immediately become a huge fan of his "in your face" style and everything else about him. I tried (in vain) to get the group I was employed by as a minister to get interested in his music, but they wanted to stick to their own music.
What Keith Green did for Christian music is far beyond HUGE. Before he became popular, Christian music was either Gospel or Southern Gospel. Keith took Christian music to the next level, which was to make it current and relevant. Being a charter member of the original "Jesus People" in 1970, I was aware of the new music starting to come out of Christian coffee houses etc., but it took Keith Green to get the new Christian music out in the open which led to the tidal wave of musicians to follow.
I preached the virtues of Keith Green's songs for years and years. I was so thrilled when in the early 90's out of nowhere his songs were resurrected and put out for a whole new generation to learn about and enjoy. Due to the efforts made back then, Keith's songs are more widely known and loved now than when he was alive. If you have never read the book about him "No Compromise" it is well worth the time to do so. If you have never really listened to his songs, please take advantage of what John has done here by providing links to his live performances.
As great as Keith's recordings were, his best work was always live concerts. He had a way of "working the crowd" as no one before or since. He truly was a gift from God for the short (less than ten years) that he performed his songs. No, Keith Green music is nothing like the stuff listened to today, but it had meat and it came directly from God's heart through his to US, God's people.
Thank you "K" and thank you John for providing this post to a man and his music who meant more to me than any other Christian performer--past or present. I am truly thankful that others may at least have the chance to watch and listen to some of his songs. Now if I can get my computer to cooperate, I have some songs to get blessed by. Thanks again John for putting this up!!!
