Montana jail to be new Gitmo?
So, I got this title over at DrudgeReport middle of last week and wanted to blog about it... but was too busy at the time.
Based on the news article posted at the Billingsgazette.com website (that's billings montana for those of you in Rio Linda) the lovely state of Montana spent $27 million on a new jail. A jail that was finished in July 2007... and has ZERO inmates... even after two years since it was built.
So, "what's wrong with the prison?" you might ask.
Well, it seems not a darn thing is wrong with it. Well, except for the fact that nobody is willing to pay the great people of Montana to actually put prisoners in the prison. Imagine that.
So what did somebody up in Montana think of?
It went something like this...
"Geeh, Gitmo is closing... hey, maybe we could house all the people here!"
No, seriously...
According to the article:
Interesting as it is... the local City Council voted to support the efforts to turn Gitmo (aka: Guantanamo Bay; aka: Club Gitmo).
All I can think of is the statement that Vice President Cheney said in an interview, of which I totally -- 100% -- unequivalently agree with!
So, all you folks up in Montana... I'm not exactly sure what your thinking... but if having enemy combatants in your backyard is what you feel you have to do to try to pay off $27 million for a prison that is empty... well... I think that just about nullifies me ever moving up there!
