Remember The Undersea Cables That Were Cut? |

Ok, so most of us probably remember hearing in the news (or those of you across the pond got to experience first-hand) that an undersea cable got cut... and then a second one got cut.
Needless to say, the conspiracy theorists went crazy over this whole issue. First is was the usa military purposely cutting them to cover up a special-ops mission, then it was the usa cutting them to cover up sensitive intel, then it was Russia trying to make a statement and getting back into the spotlight as they try to "claim" Antarctica, then it was back to the USA and more cover-up due to the Afgan/Iraq war.
So then, here a couple days ago, I was over at NationalTerrorAlert.Com a they posted a newsarticle with some expinations.
Apparently, two ships, the MV Hounslow and MT Ann, were rounded up back in February by the UAE police and coastguard after Reliance Globalcom, the parent company of Flag Telecoms (who owns the cables) provided satellite pictures of shipping in the area of the cables at the time they were severed
The Khaleej Times reported on Friday that an officer of the Korean-owned MT Ann had admitted liability, and the owners had paid $60,000 compensation to Reliance. The Ann has now been released.
The other vessel, MV Hounslow, remains impounded. The Hounslow is said to be Iraqi owned, and it appears that her captain was not on board when the vessel was seized by Dubai coastguards and police. Two crewmembers who were present have been arrested. Some $350,000 is sought in the case of the Hounslow, which is accused by Reliance of having abandoned its anchor after having tried and failed to get it free of the cable.
At best account, it would appear that the Ann and the Hounslow were responsible for the damage, both having been close to Dubai at the time. It is said that the anchors of the two ships, according to the Khaleej Times damaged the "FALCON" line between Dubai and Oman.

Anyway, I am sure this isn't going to be the end of what the conspiracy theorists have to say about this issue... if anything it'll just give'em even more to draw up juicy new conspiracies about!

If this were the only totally useless information running wild in the world, life sure would be easier! 
There seems to be a never ending list of false information on any and all subjects.

Thinks, of course this was never covered on the news like the first story so I haven't heard it.
This gives them a ton of new theories to pounce on, I can hear them now, following leads to nowhere.
