Steven Curtis Chapman: 5-year-old daughter dies

FoxNews has just released a news article: Daughter of Gospel Star Steven Curtis Chapman Hit, Killed by Car .

The 5-year-old daughter of contemporary Christian music star Steven Curtis Chapman was struck and killed Wednesday by a sport utility vehicle driven by her brother, authorities said.

Chapman has won five Grammy awards and 51 Dove awards from the Gospel Music Association.

NASHVILLE, TN...5/21/08... At approximately 5pm on the afternoon of Wednesday May 21st, Maria Sue Chapman, 5 years old and the youngest daughter to Steven and Mary Beth Chapman was struck in the driveway of the Chapman home in Franklin, TN. Maria was rushed to Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in Nashville, transported by LifeFlight, but died of her injuries there. Maria is one of the close knit family's six children and one of their three adopted daughters.

More than five years ago, Chapman and his wife MaryBeth founded The Shaohannah's Hope Ministry after bringing their first adopted daughter, Shaohannah, home from China. The ministry's goal is to help families reduce the financial barrier of adoption, and has provided grants to over 1700 families wishing to adopt orphans from around the world. Chapman is a five-time GRAMMY ® winner and 54-time Dove Award winning artist who has sold over 10 million albums and garnered 44 No. 1 singles

As we pray for her family, let's remember to lift up her brother who was driving the vehicle which hit her. What a terrible burden to bear! Yes, it was an accident but it still really hurts and it is very easy to blame yourself and pile on the guilt. About 16 years ago, my cousin lost her 22 month son in an accident in a church parking lot right before a mother-daughter banquet. Both parents were at church setting up things and each one thought the other one had him. While he was not hit by a family member the effect on the driver's life was devastating. Her marriage eventually fell to pieces, she lost her job, shut out friends and eventually turned her back on God. We need to pray for this family. Quote Comment:

This shows a recently released video of Steven and his now passed-away daughter that is just... well... fatherly special. For those of you who are fathers out there, you should really grab his latest book, Cinderella: The Love of a Daddy and His Princess It is based on his song "Cinderella" from his recent CD "This Moment". When I wake up it is the first thing on my mind. I can't imagine their pain. I pray they can cling to God and all him to give them some peace. I pray that the son can realize that we are not perfect and accidents happen even horrible ones like this. Lord be with them! Quote Comment:
