All four of the Gospels talk about the three crosses on the hill of Golgotha:
John 9:18: "Here they crucified him, and with him two others one on each side and Jesus in the middle. "
Matthew 27:38: "Two robbers were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left."
Matthew 27:44: "In the same way the robbers who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him."
Mark 15:27: "They crucified two robbers with him, one on his right and one on his left."
Mark 15:32b: "Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him."
Luke 23:32-33: "32Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. 33When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals, one on his right, the other on his left."
Luke 23"39-43" "39One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"
40But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence? 41We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."
42Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom."
43Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
John gives nothing more about the criminals crucified with Jesus. Matthew and Mark say that they hurled insults at Him. but read carefully the passages from Luke.
One mocked Jesus and called upon Him to save all of them for no other reason that, if truly the Son of God, Jesus could.
The other acknowledged his sin (confessed), feared God (accepted Jesus as the Messiah) and asked to be remembered (repented.)
By that faith, even at the last moment, this man was saved. "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
My dear friends, it is never too late. Our loving Savior waits with open arms.
The choice is ours. Chose the cross on the right or the cross on the left.
