The story of 10 leopards (Luke 17:11-19) More from Rachel

I heard from Rachel about a skit the kindergarteners in Rachel's class had done in "chapel" last Friday. They'd only had a half day of school and she missed the normal routine. But it sure sounded like they did some interesting stuff!

Each of the class levels in her Christian school had done a skit based on some passage from the Bible. The kindergarteners had done a skit, not on 10 leopards, but the story of 10 lepers taken from: Luke
Jesus Heals Ten Men With Leprosy
11 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy[a] met him. They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, ‚‚¬‚Å Jesus, Master, have pity on us!‚‚¬

14 When he saw them, he said, ‚‚¬‚Å Go, show yourselves to the priests.‚‚¬ And as they went, they were cleansed.

15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at Jesus feet and thanked him‚‚¬‚ and he was a Samaritan.

17 Jesus asked, ‚‚¬‚Å Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18 Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?‚‚¬ 19 Then he said to him, ‚‚¬‚Å Rise and go; your faith has made you well.‚‚¬ (Luke 17:11-19)
I'm not at all sure what the lesson to be learned by the students was, but I feel so blessed that Rachel's education is in a Christian environment.

Rachel did state emphatically that she missed the normal routine. I asked her what she'd missed the most that day, and she stated without hesitation "Bible Time!"

So I asked "What do you do in Bible Class, Rachel?"

"It's not Bible Class, grandpa. It's Bible TIME!" OK, Rachel has inherited a love for preciseness in her language from her grandpa, but she went on to explain:

"We are learning things God wants us to know from the Bible, grandpa. They go with the letters of the alphabet." She went on to quote verses starting with several letters of the alphabet. I recall that the first one had to do with "Goodness." (G) She ended each quote with the Book, chapter and verse. Then she gave me several other examples of what they were learning. With a bit of examination, I was assured that this was not mere rote learning of scripture, but that my precious granddaughter was getting deep meaning as well.

Rachel is now 5 years old. What a foundation she is getting!

God's Word... properly delivered, even one so young can "get it."

I am one blessed grandpa!
