Covering the tracks...
You're walking in the woods to a familiar spot...
And as you arrive to that familiar spot, you look at a nearby tree and see a carving in it which resembles something of a face. The resemblance is uncanny, and could not have been forged out of nature; a hand did this, but whose?
Now as you and your camp of people start to look around, you find absolutely no tracks. For surely, if someone came and did this, they would have left evidence behind that they did do this. Or maybe they were so crafty that they decided to cover up their tracks.
Some in your camp start to establish the belief that nature did this, and that much shouldn't be thought of it. In fact, some in the camp don't only want to suggest it, they want to accept it as fact. Others are calling out other people for playing magic tricks on people. Some simply see the face, and assume who did it.
How did the face get into that tree? It's getting to those in the camp more apparent that the face forged itself, but some children who are still righteous in mind wonder how a face can craft itself... the children wonder who did it. The children are the wisest in the camp, because they still wonder. The older ones are the fools in the camp, because they think they know how it got there.
Perhaps all along, the one who crafted this face wanted us to wonder. The day we stop wondering is the day we become foolish...
"Whoever becomes humble like [these children] is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven" (Matt 18:4)
