GIFT DISCOVERY ... to be or not to be

How much of what is labeled as spiritual gift assessment is nothing more than testing of natural, physiological/psychological propensities?

How can one test for a spiritual gift? By its nature, spiritual is of and by the Spirit, and the Holy Spirit flows through the person. Each gift will accordingly manifest differently through different vessels. How can this be measured or tested in such an academic or intellectual manner?

When man tries to catalog the things of God, things really end up quite convoluted.

As a believer exercises the gift/calling of God, the body of Christ is to recognize the gift/calling. This places responsibility for the gift/calling on the believer first and then on the body for discernment and recognition.

The true church, the body of Christ, is not a political institution.

We are not to vote in the most popular candidate. In the book of Acts, the deacons were chosen from among those considered full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom. They manifested the grace and the others recognized and appointed them.i

If the anchor is lifted, a ship will go adrift ... how far have we drifted off course?

Celebrities are everywhere, and the church world is not exempt. Name recognition, titles, educational background, current celebrity affirmation, and good connections seem to be the trusted stamp of approval for many.

In our fast paced, instant world, unfortunately this may be all that is needed for others to follow. After all, they too are caught up in the pace. Lost is the understanding of real spirituality and growth.

Casualties of war ...

The many gifted in the diverse gifts of the Spirit:
Lost are the unsung heroes in the ministry of helps, those who truly see what is needed and step in to fill all the gaps.

Lost are those with the true gift of administration. They have a true spiritual view for coordinating how things flow together in the spirit and the natural, facilitating God’s purposes.

Lost are those with the gift of discerning of spirits, and prophetic gifts that would bring light, healing and grace to the hurting.

Lost are those with a prophetic anointing, those who can give the word and direction of the Lord for specific situations, thus empowering others to overcome and advance.

Lost are those with an apostolic anointing, those who have an anointing to break through, to build, and to support others in their calling.

Lost, lost, lost ... a diversity of gifts, as diverse as our God is so too is the diversity of His gifting to His children.

It is time to rise up sons of God. It is time to rise up and exercise the gifts/callings of God on your life. If you wait for recognition to move, you may end up burying your talents.

Jesus sent His disciples into all the world. The world is waiting for the revelation of the sons of God.ii Exercise the grace within you to all the Holy Spirit directs as you walk this earth. Be a blessing to a lost and dying world.

Awesome! You grabbed my attention simply with the title. My interest in gifts is profound b/c I see gifts ignored, I see many unaware of their gifts and many have no idea of what the gifts are/mean. We must go to the Lord for an understanding of the gifts and what gifts He has blessed us with . We must also make use of them and not be afraid of them. Also, we must not be boastful of the gifts He has blessed us with. It's not about us, but it is about Him. The assessment concerns me for many reasons, but I pray that the Body of Christ first seeks the Lord for guidance concerning gifts. Thank you for bringing this to light and elevating the minds and spirits for the sake of our use of gifts.

Thank you evangelistbrown for the visit and your comment. I wholeheartedly agree ... "it's not about us, but it is about Him." It is God manifesting Himself through the various gifts.

May there be a release of His presence through His people in every way that He chooses!

Blessings,
Barb
