Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven...

As believers, we have access to the power of heaven. We have access to the very throne room of God. This is not just a hope it is a spiritual reality.

If this reality were not true, you would not pray. Your prayer is a testimony to what your spirit knows about God.

When you believe in Christ, you are born from above, and the Holy Spirit witnesses deep within your spirit that you are a child of God.ⁱ It comes as a revelation, an assurance that you did not have before.

You can spend all your time reading what others have to say about how to pray. You can study, plan, outline, and seek to perfect the process.

Nevertheless, one thing remains most powerful and effective, this reality within your spirit, and before God.

If you study, plan and outline, but never exercise this most powerful truth, you will fall short. You will limit God’s intervention on your behalf, on behalf of your family, and the body of Christ. You will fail to release the power of heaven on earth.



Have you heard ...

Have you heard of those who stormed heaven? Have you heard of praying saints who ‘got hold of heaven and would not let go’? They prayed throughout the night, through the weeks and months, refusing to relent until the heavens were rent. Have you read or heard of them, or have they been lost in our current culture.



The culture of now...

We are a processed food, instant food, drive through, and instant gratification culture. We did not create it, but we certainly support it. It is progressive and has many benefits in our fast-paced society. Nevertheless, the question is -- has our thinking been conformed to it?

The answer is YES, sad but true. We are conformed to expect fast, cheap and near instant ... everything! It fits perfectly with our fleshly propensities, our carnal needs and desires. It is a time when it is all about ME!

Let the older generation not be mistaken, it has affected you as well. For those who grew up in harder times, there is a desire for more and better for your children. Although this may be a sincere and loving desire, it is vulnerable and perhaps victim to these changing times, causing you to flow with its current.



The ME generation and prayer ...

Ask and you shall receive. Instead of a scriptural promise, this has become the mantra of the times. It is enforced by ‘everyone else has this or that’ and the sub-context of ‘I am abused or neglected’ if I don’t get these things. This affects both children and adults. It is a product of the times and is now vividly seen in the debt of government, individuals and a failing economy.



Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven...

Why did they pray as they did? How could they take hold of heaven and not relent? Was it because of need, certainly. On the other hand, was there something that superseded this?

Supersede – to replace in power, authority, effectiveness, acceptance, use...

What would supersede need ... FAITH!

They prayed because they believed. They believed the promises of God. They believed in the power of God. They believed that heaven’s will was to rule on earth and they were to bring heaven down!


THEY BELIEVED!

Because they believed, they could not fail to pray! Their faith was the gasoline engine driving them to prayer. They prayed because they believed.


An indictment of unbelief . . .

This is an indictment, not of you as a believer, but of unbelief. It is time to turn and face the enemy. The very name believer stands in opposition to unbelief. It is time we awake to the subtleties of the world, the flesh, and the enemy.

The world and the enemy are more obvious. The flesh is the real battleground.

Are you ready for the battle? Heaven’s will being done on earth is what turns in the balance.
