Love

Hey Guys,

Over the past few weeks I have been thinking about the word Love, not the way we interpret the word Love, but the way that God would have us love.

Last night, at my church group, a friend of my lead the group and the subject he wanted to talk on was, Gods Love for Us.

Now I know that probably all of you know this verse backwards, but this verse simply sums up the kind of Love that God has for each and every one of us, to my knowledge, there has been no greater display of love ever, than this:

John 3:16
"For God So loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life."

How awesome is that, I cannot think of a greater display of pure Love than that. I don't know how many of you are parents but to hopefully put things in a human perspective, think about this.

How many of you would give up your son to save all those that oppose you and that do not show that they love you, in fact, how many of us would be prepared to give up any child for the sake of anybody.

I just think that that is so amazing, that God loves us so much that He was prepared to send His Son to suffer a human death so that we would be able to have eternal life.

We are also commanded to "...Love as I have loved you..."
Why is it that we simply cannot love our neighbor, not love our neighbor today because we feel like it, or because today is a good day for me, or it sounds like a good thing to do. We are commanded to love, not asked. I know what I've said is a lot harder to do especially when we have been wronged by people, But like it says in 1 John 2:6 "Whoever claims to live in Him, must walk as Jesus did."

How awesome would that be, if everybody you knew was walking the same path you were walking.

Your in Christ,
Bernard

Sounds like your friend did a good job leading the group discussion. Love God and love one another; the rest is based on these. Seems simple, but thought and action can sometimes be worlds away from each other. It's Christ that brings it all together for us. Good thoughts now lets all put it into action one day at a time. Thanks for the post Bernard!
