The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. (New International Version 1984)- James 3:06
Words. They reveal so much, in the course of time. Jesus said it is not what enters into the mouth that defiles, but what comes out of it. Eventually it will reveal many of the thoughts and intents of the heart. If one could be sinlessly perfect, then surely their words would also confirm. Sometimes because of the words we say, we obligate ourselves to action, lest we would show to all those observing that we are not really people of our 'word'.
Jesus told us if we can't perform what we say, then we shouldn't say it. In otherwords, we should not only do what we say, but we should also consider, carefully, before we say it.
Sadly, I have noticed, in blogging about these daily Bible verses, that when people see the words of scripture, both, the views, and the comments, decrease drastically. Also sadly, this reveals much about what is of most interest, to many. It must not be scripture, the actions speak a lot louder than the words do, a lot of the time.
You can tell a lot about what people really love most, in the course of time, by what they say, and how they spend their money, and their time. Do we come here to be noticed? Or, to cause others to notice God? There are no better 'words' to ponder and study, than the words of scripture. No greater subjects to study, than those we study using the words, of the scripture.
Not all that comes out of my mouth is pure, and of God. But all that comes out of the word of God, which is our holy canon, is. Gods word is a revealer of the thoughts and intents of the heart. They cut into the very depths of our soul. So do mans words, but nothing to compare to Gods. Yet, what source do we gather 'words', from? God, or man? The time spent in prayer and Bible study, will answer a lot clearer than our words will.
What a revealing verse. What a revealing subject. If you read this, as some say, I am probably 'speaking to the choir'. So much could be discussed, regarding this verse. Time is short, as always. God Bless, have a 'blessed' day.
