Hebrews 12:29. Our study today was Hebrews Chapter 12. There were 26 in the class. 18 or over were from their mid-fifties up. One of the more conservative, traditional churches to come out of the protestant era. It is disheartening to see the declines, and also the turning away in apostasy, that is becoming so popular today. Change with the times, is the way most are now. Trouble is, my Bible shows no such changes. They are all introduced.
Many do not interpret this verse, Heb. 12:29, today, as it is truly written and meant. Verse 28, along with the others, however, leave no room for a mis-interpretation, unless it is a willful one. Even under grace, we are to serve God acceptably, with reverence and Godly fear. God is just as jealous, as He was in Deuteronomy. He is the same God. He does not change.
The writer, in fact, gives us clear instruction that we are held to an even greater accountability, as He is speaking of the heavenly, and not what was on the Mount, that could be touched. Worshipping God, giving Him the reverence that is due Him, because He IS God, has never been more clear, and we have fuller revelation of this God now, than they did then.
I fear for many within christendom today, for this very reason, that we are given in the scripture. We somehow feel that grace is going to excuse us and cover us for everything. How terribly wrong we are, in christendom. How this Holy God is mocked today, and treated like a pal that hangs out with us, cool, whereever we are, or are doing. Portrayed and presented as one of the guys, somebody to hang out with, and be ourselves. This is not what is presented here, in this Chapter, and what we are warned about.
There is a sickening toleration today, of what scripture warns us against. We even call scripture a lie, or change its meanings, to present some deceptive doctrine, that is not even taught, and do it in the name of Christ, and grace. I would urge those doing such, to carefully read this chapter, and how serious God was in the OT. Remember the strange fire, that was offered, because of careless service? And, what happened? And yet we spurn the Spirit of grace, and the blood shed to set us free from sin.
We practice abomination, and allow in some churches, in the name of tolerance and grace. And call it NT grace? Apostasy is prophesied, and it is here, but do not be deceived, God will consume those who have done foolishly, and that despite unto the Spirit of grace, and the trampling upon the blood of Jesus Christ.
We are not, and never were, saved in order to continue in sin, and worship and serve God irreverently, and that with no fear towards God, at all. His voice then, shook the earth. It will soon shake the heaven. All that will be left, is what cannot be shaken. There are spirits of just men, made perfect, who see the pitiful excuses and doctrines made today, and those who present them. This is not the time for double-mindedness, and shallow faith. But such leaven has permeated many within christendom today.
The worship offered by many, within christendom, is hated of God, and considered abomination. Modern christendom, does not want to hear such as this. They honestly believe that God is pleased with the worship they offer. They take Hebrews Chapter 12 just as lightly, as all the rest of it.
Endure chastening, make straight paths for our feet. Follow peace, and holiness, to see the Lord. Look diligently, lest any fail of the grace of God. Do not be a fornicator, or profane, as Esau, who was rejected. The place we come is to the heavenlies, wherein our mediator is Jesus Christ, whose own blood sprinkled the mercy seat there.
"For our God is a consuming fire." Do not ignore this warning, and that is just what it is.
