"Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord"

2nd Corinthians 5:11, is where the title comes from. I will probably make a series about fearing God. In a previous blog I mentioned how the majority of christendom, and many churches, do not teach this. Most will say and teach that we are not to fear God. Most will say and teach that we are told not to. When we study this subject with the whole of scripture, and believe what the whole of scripture teaches about fearing God, then there should be no doubt at all that we should.

There is little fear of God today. Most believe we have no reason to, that it is even wrong to fear God. To be honest, personally, from my own experience, and those in the scripture, I have serious doubts as to just how close of a relationship many who would disagree, have with God. Yes, perfect love casteth out fear, and fear hath torments, no problem there, but when we are out of Gods will, and not living in perfect love, then folks we have much to fear from this God we serve. And again, there may be the problem, in that word serve.

We are not to fear man, or the circumstances we are in, or about all of the worldly cares, such as clothes, how we will live and get by, just as Jesus Christ taught us. Actually, according to the scripture, it is GOD, and Him alone, we are to fear. This is what scripture will teach us. And, if we are out of the will of God, then we are even to fear them, (man), and we will. But it is God alone we are to fear, and fear Him we should, unless we are in obedience to Him. When we obey Him, and fear Him, and honor Him, and serve Him, in this perfect love, then we have confidence knowing that we please Him.

Fear Him, who is "able" to cast both soul and body into hell, Jesus said. And that would be God. And that is God alone, who is "able" to do that. In Gods dealings with Israel, His chosen people, we should see time and again how that God chastised them, and gave them over to their enemies, in order to turn them back to repentance. He will do the same to those of His people today. So-called christianity today has no fear of God. And the majority see no need for repentance, of anything. Churches blessing same-sex clergy, unions, lifestyles. Immorality, cursing, coveting, jealousy, greed. I have even had preachers, deacons, teachers, professing christians, say that one can practice sins such as these, and still inherit the kingdom of God and Christ. They obviously do not believe what the scripture tells us concerning this. No fear at all, of God, or anything or anyone else.

Scripture told us that this will happen, these people would come. Society is filled with them. Churches are too. And we would wonder what is wrong in the world? Children swear and have no respect for parents, teachers, authority of any kind. And you know where most get it? From these same people! Parents, teachers, and authority. These civil liberties people will respect animals, criminals, ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING but GOD! They want no part of Him, and will not acknowledge anything about Him. Yet they will show these lying politicians honor, respect, reverence, and earnestly believe that they can bring peace and unity, and prosperity to the world.

We should fear God, and kiss the Son. Lest He be angry, and we perish from the way, and provoke His wrath. Psalm 2:12. I honestly wonder about folks who see no need to fear Him. Rest assured that Paul learned quickly, on that road to Damascus. The list is long of those who have learned just as quickly. I witnessed a person say that Moses got angry, and this kept him from entering the promised land. God Himself was angered with these people, and Moses had to intercede for them. He smote the rock, and that rock was Christ. 1st Cor. 10:4. That was his error, and the reason, as God said.

This God is Holy. This God is powerful. This God is a jealous God. This God wants all to believe in His Son Jesus Christ. To honor Him, trust Him, love Him, serve Him, obey Him. Adore Him. Praise Him. With all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Children of disobedience, and those who will not do these things, have MUCH to fear folks. To treat Him as anything less than King of kings, and Lord of lords, will indeed bear its consequences. Do not take this lightly. Do you know and believe about this "terror of the Lord"? Do not wait until then, please, to find out!

Thank you so much for this. We have talked with SO MANY people who say, "No, No, No; we aren't to have fear of God; maybe a reverential fear but not fear. I have recently thought that people don't want to believe this; they may have to live a different life and give up some of the sins they enjoy. But one thing is for sure -- God is serious and we had better be as well. Jesus did not come for us to play around with this. Just prior to Jesus' return, the earth will experience God's wrath. In my Amplified Bible it says God's "undiluted" wrath. When we think of history and when His wrath is shown, it sounds horrible. However, it has always been His "diluted" wrath. Then, comes judgment. Unfortunately at that time all grace and mercy is over. It's exactly what it says -- God's judgment; just His judgment. He will warn us: discipline us; and do whatever is necessary to cleanse His. We had better listen when He convicts and disciplines. He is the Potter; we are the clay. His purpose is to mold us into the image of Jesus. That's His purpose in all things. He is indeed our Heavenly Father and loves us. But, as you say, He is Almighty God, Creator of all things, and He is Holy. We need to learn to respect Him.

As the days of the Lord draws near, we will surely see more of haters of God, people who ignores and rejects God and even Christians who only want blessings from God more than fearing Him in the right way.

May we know the time and continue to bring the Good News to everyone and to tell them about the mercy of the Lord including His judgements.

Thanks for sharing, Brother Billy

Blessings always

Thanks for your comment silverpen. We do need to share the gospel. Not many are sharing about this, though, and we are seeing the results.

Thank you for sharing too sister in Christ. Billy

In these last days, the fear of the Lord will only save the people. It is very important to learn to fear God. These are perilous days, people are thinking, we can live any kind of life and Lord will accept us. Our Lord is a consuming fire. Our generation will not know the anger of God, because we are living in a period of grace. Soon, His wrath will be kindled.

Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. -Ps 2:11

We should learn to fear God and escape from the coming Judgment. A Good topic, needed for the present day world. Expecting a series on these lines. Thank you.

My last blog touched on this and a number of my prophetic w0rds from the Lord including revgenlink have all been leaning in this direction. God is not pleased with his children who do not have a "holy fear" of the Lrrd. In fact the Lord is laying the foundations of my next blog along this theme.
To fall under the wrath of God because we do not fear God will be a terrifying experience for many so called followers of Jesus. As you point out - look at the example of Gods own chosen people.

Good blog

Thanks watchmanjohn. One truly discerning of the Holy scripture knows without any need of further revelation. God has spoken in these last days through His Son Jesus Christ. It was Jesus Christ who told us to fear Him.

Thank you brother.

I believe that when we think about the fear of the love, we need to go back to the analogy of "father". I had a good relationship with my father, albeit a rather short one as I was a teenager when he passed away. There is no doubt in my mind that he loved me with all of his heart and would have fought to his death to protect me. I was his beloved daughter and yet... there was fear.

Many of us know the feeling that comes upon us when we would as children hear words like "Wait until your father comes home!" We did not want to face the father we loved and who loved us because we knew he would be displeased and unhappy about our actions. We knew that there would be discipline and it would be unpleasant but there was more to it than that. We would be bringing grief to him.

I am not saying that I did not respect my mother. She was no push-over by any means and she dealt with what needed to be dealt with at that very moment. However there was a different feel when my father came on the scene. Just the knowledge that he was heading toward the scene was enough to leave me shaking in my boots.

Yes, I had respect for him but it was more than that. I knew he had authority over me. He had the right to dictate what I should or should not do. He had the right to tell me what to do, when to do it and how I was to do it. He had the right to praise me or discipline me as he saw fit. Many I time I would stop short of doing something simply because I knew that if I did it... I would end up facing my father afterward and that was something I did not want to do because while I loved him... I also feared him.

I always say, Billy, that while we might be a :princess: or a prince , we are NOT the King. We must always remember who we are AND who God is!

Blessings!

It is a blessing to have a loving, godly father. So glad that you did. Many do not. Personally I do not compare one of flesh to God the Father. There is just no comparison, neither in how we are loved, nor in the extent of that love, or the extent of chastisement when needed.

Unfortunately, many today know little about discipline or chastisement.

As always K :princess: , I appreciate your comments. God Bless you much. Billy

Actually Billy... my dad did not come to Christ until three weeks before his death while he was in the hospital for the last time. That is the ironic thing about it. I was talking about a person who did NOT know God until the very end.

Jesus used an analogy of "father" for a reason. It was one that many listeners could under and relate to. The image of father which we see is merely a glimpse of something far greater.

Blessings!

It's fear that shift sight to awareness, from a base of folly. Proverbs 9;10 "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom". Good topic. Sincerely, Tim

i have found it's the fear of the discipine by our Heavenly father that steers me away from sin. just as our Lord disciplines King David for his sins so to does He discipline us. it's what i like to call the baptizm of fire. retribution for ones sins when recieved can be a deterrant from continuing down that path.

Hebrews 12: 6 “My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son.”

This verse clearly tells us to expect discipline when we sin. just like when my earthly father whipped me as a child when i did something he felt i knew i shouldn't have, so to does our Heavenly father. It worked on me when i was little and it works on me now! i was always afraid of getting whipped by my dad. fearing God's wrath is also a strong reason one should committ to living the life that He is molding you for.

Great Message, thanks for the post!

Blessings,
bubba

Thank you Bubba. I know exactly what you mean. We have example after example in both the OT and the NT, of Almighty God provoked to wrath. Those who have felt it, even in a light manner, understand why we should fear this awesome God.

God Bless you brother. Thanks again. Billy

Great blog. You are right that we must fear the Lord. As said above , that is the beginning of wisdom. That is how I came to the Lord, through fear. I had just read Revelations, and that did it! I agree with your point about how the world pins its hopes on politicians, whose every word is a lie practically. What are they thinking? Take care and keep blogging. - bibleguy

Thanks bibleguy. Me too. 'Mercy rejoices against judgement'. Praise God for that. That ain't gonna stop judgement though, for the unrepentant. Like Paul said, some mens sins are open beforehand to judgement, and some they follow after.

The God taught by many is not how the bible as a whole will teach. No eternal hell. Universalism. And now we got same sex clergy even. They preach the 'love' too. To the point of no repentance. Many deceive their ownselves, as they have read all the words, and know the meanings, but choose to not believe. Regardless, the great day of His wrath is coming, and He chasteneth every son He receives. Deceived or not.

Brother, thanks again. And God Bless You.- Billy
