Rom. 8:22.23. You will need to look it up, and the verses in the chapters before and after. The whole of creation groans, waiting for redemption. None of us have the full redemption we groan for. Yes, we are all at different levels of sanctification and maturity, who have came to God through the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. But none of us have the full redemption promised yet.
So we all still struggle with fleshly things, in some form or another. Many things I have came a long way in submitting to the Spirit, and do not struggle as I did a ways back, but still will stumble if I get negligent and lazy. Anger, is something that I have to really stay alert in. The carnal nature of anger, still rears itself at times.
At work one of my supervisors used some profanity, at that directed at me and another co-worker, that I really had to put effort into controlling. No need to lie, and add yet another struggle. I really wanted to just knock his head off his body. The thoughts of the action just seemed so attractive. I was raised in an environment, where if words did not settle something, well, let's get physical. That always worked out pretty well, in those days when the flesh ruled everything.
But I just walked away. He came back later and apologized, but even then, to be honest, I wanted to rip his head off. It can destroy in an instant, a lot of our witness. Anger. That monster that wants to rule at times. And, that monster is a part of the flesh. We don't like to admit that some of those monsters are still with us, but they will not be going away totally, until we are fully redeemed.
One of the things I always hated about the nursing homes, is hearing that groaning that the scripture speaks about. And seeing some of those monsters, still seeking to rule the flesh. Go spend some time there, and it will show in many forms. There will be no denying that we still wait for this full redemption we so long for. 'Many' still love and serve the flesh more than a 'few' will. It is going to stay that way. The closer one is to walking as Jesus our Christ did, the more satan will buffet us, and the world will hate us. If they speak well of you, they are either being convicted of the Holy Spirit, or we are. And one needs the ears to hear what the Spirit says.
If anger weighs you down, then you can't run very well in the race set before you/me. It is the sin that will only slow you/me down. We do the same with all the others. Lust, jealousy, greed, gossip and slander. Among all the other carnal baggage that we may want to carry. And if we "love" them, more than we love God, and our Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit that they grieve, then they will cause us to "turn away". Folks we can word it anyhow we like, and it will still come down to what and who we "love", and "serve".
My love for my Lord Jesus Christ, will be shown throughout the day, everyday. And so will yours. Move on, towards the likeness of Him. 2nd Pet. 1:3-11. Col. 3:8-25. "As to the Lord, and not unto men". And amen.
