... Conformed To His Image ...

Soul instruction on good and godly habits.

Your destination (my soul), should you remain obedient in prayer, is to be united with all three Persons of God. The true Christian history of contemplative knowing indicates the equality of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, i.e., to be united with one is to be united with all. Continue to call on the name of Jesus, allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal Him to you and all the while returning thanks to the Father. This is an obedience that will instill a humbleness and disposition of gratitude in you that is pleasing to the Three in One.

Look forward to receiving the final good and godly habit of Divine Love. One day when the Divine Light lifts your eyes up, look forward also to the gift of discernment and other good and godly habits of the essential inner entity type. Familiarize yourself with the Uncreated Light spoken of by Palamas made known through his intuitive logic of God. Experience the Light, which is union with the Son as soon as you possibly have opportunity.[1].

Do not lose sight (my soul) of the final stage of contemplative knowing, the final stage of the restoration of your mind of the heart to good and godly habits of the essential inner reality. Do not lose sight of how your mind-of-the-heart can function according to its original nature having been restored to the image and likeness of Christ (Romans 8:29).

Be consciously and habitually united to Jesus in the Holy Spirit. This is transformed godliness, your adoption by God as a son (Ephesians 1:5) through the uncreated powers of the Spirit (grace). This is the result of your purification (as prescribed by John of Sinai) and the contemplative knowing of the true intuitive word of God. By this time your prayer will have risen to the function of uniting you and the Son of God.[2].

It is well worth your time to make sure you understand the difference in the stages of contemplative knowing as described by Hesychios and Evagrius. Don't miss the importance placed on the illumination that Jesus provides and the way the Holy Spirit reveals Him. You must have this! Do not let pass in this life or let this life pass without the intuitive experiences that are possible by Divine illumination as prescribed by Symeon the intuitive logician of God.[3].

Stay with the baby steps of using the Jesus Prayer in that His name is enclosed in it, i.e., the prayer is built around His name. Increase your understanding of the spiritual environment - in which prayer functions - including the establishing of some outward acts of self-denial (discipline, self-control, patience, consistency, good and godly habit). Continue some spiritual reading on this subject that you might not lose sight of what is possible in God and what others have reported from their inward/upward movement to the realms of Glory while still in this life, ever realizing that what you seek is not scholastic in nature, but rather experience on the road of transformation. Carry on my way-word soul, for the road to Zion is in within you, even in your heart.

[1]. "It might, however, be more accurate to say that in this union the person praying is united to all the three Persons of the Holy Trinity. In the fully Orthodox {right reason, true Christian, correct glory} tradition of contemplation {contemplative knowing}, the Father is not singled out as being higher than the Son and the Holy Spirit ... as Evagrius teaches in the 'Kephalaia Gnostica'. In the fully Orthodox tradition, union with one Person of the Holy Trinity confers union with all the three Persons of the Holy Trinity. In this union of the person with the Son, which union is experienced as light, the Uncreated Light of later Palamite theology {intuitive logic of God}, the final moral virtue of divine love is conferred on the person, along with higher noetic virtues {good and godly habits of the essential inner reality} such as discernment."

[2]. "The final stage of contemplation {contemplative knowing}, the final stage of the restoration of the mind {mind of the heart} to noetic virtue {good and godly habits of the essential inner reality}, to its operation according to nature, is accomplished in the conscious habitual union of the person with Jesus Christ in the Holy Spirit; this is variously named divinization (theosis) {transformed godliness}, adoption by grace as a son of God, dispassion (apatheia) {purification},[Here, in the sense of St John of Sinai] the contemplation {contemplative knowing} of God or Theology {the true word of God}. In this union, two persons are united: the person who is praying and the Son."

[3]. "In 'On Sobriety', although reference is made to the Evagrian schema of contemplation {contemplative knowing} in such a way as to make it clear that the author was familiar with the works of Evagrius, there is not such a clear delineation of the stages of contemplation {contemplative knowing} as in Evagrius. Instead, there is an emphasis on the illumination provided in Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit, in much the same way and with much the same language that at a later date St Symeon the New Theologian {intuitive logician of God} will describe his own mystical {intuitive} experiences of divine illumination."
