Where In Time? In the beginning.

Instructing my soul in the things of God.

"In the beginning"

Where in time did God do His creating? In the beginning, for everything must have a source and by the looks of things a highly intelligent source. Without direct transport revelation you will have to rely on hearsay. And if you must, how much more reliable can you get than relying on Moses? Several other authors of the Bible saw the beginnings of things also to collaborate with him such as David, Ezekiel, Isaiah, and John; and all of these men are of profound character. Listen my soul, stay open to vision, dream, and revelation regarding this wondrous contemplation for Holy Spirit has excellent and mysterious communion skills in that which is commonly thought impossible; but in all honesty i perceive nothing yet.

Now how were you taught? Well, in ages and dispensations, in a perfect world created that was destroyed by water and then recreated in six days. I was taught to collect a variety of passages to demonstrate the fall of Lucifer before Eden and a possible time line to account for an old earth, dinosaurs, demons, giants, and fossils without deforming the literal account. Are you satisfied? Well, let me say that I have enjoyed collecting every verse I can find on the subject and that i am not perplexed with doubt about such things. And does that suffice? Yes, in that, if this is not the exact true understanding of the beginning, that this hints of the possibility that a particular understanding does exist that embraces, in the least, all that scripture declares. Let me be clean in saying that I suspect that there is an ideal-time, in-Jesus, in-Trinity explanation that at this time evades me; but on the other hand i do not dare presume more than scripture reveals lest i fall into deception as many others before me. Continue in hidden-man-of-the-heart apprehension of He who has apprehended you and you will see, not without purity of heart - mind you, not without that which secures your humility perhaps even in pain.

"God created"

Continue with the fruit of your study. O.K. The word 'god' in English was not originally a uni-plural noun but because of hundreds of years of usage the word 'God' can now stand in for the original Hebrew uni-plural noun. If I refer to Jesus, I can accurately call Him God. If I refer to any two of the persons or all three, I can accurately call them God. Look at the deer; look at the sheep; and see that it is true that I can be talking of one or more of either.

All three persons existed and participated in creation. Again i am not exercised enough to know the nuances of inter-relations and interactions of the Godhead with regard to creation. Men of God exist in the past and present who can express such things. I am more dumbfounded than anything. John clearly and squarely places Jesus there. The Spirit was brooding over the surface of the deep. And then as one meditatively moves through the account in Genesis God says, "Let us make man in our image". When we read it the first time as new believers we ask, 'who is He talking to?' And so, our education began.

Yes, He created material things our of nothing. No big deal in our realm of faith, but dumbfounding to the finite mind, yet as good as any explanation in the realm of nature.

"the heavens and the earth."

And here we have what it is that God created, or rather the primary realm of revelation covered in the Bible. Consider the account of the heavens and the earth and of all the things that fill them. The invisible things of God are seen clearly, or at least are becoming more and more clear by created things. It is easy for me to know God through wilderness settings. Once I solved the food chain problem and the object lesson of the continual sacrificial suffering of the innocent to sustain life (a continual reminder of what Jesus did for me), even more things fell into place. I was perplexed for many a year while gazing at the cities, the crowds, and the gridlocks. I was blinded by the cars and the concrete and steel which made up the largest part of my environment. Slowly I began to see mankind as one expanding organism with a disfigured image of God and lost likeness. The increase of activity both in travel and knowledge was specifically prophesied by Daniel of old and so machines and gadgets are just increasing to facilitate that phenomena. Be at peace, my soul, in seeing God in all these things; He whose uncreated energy permeates all created things; ever present, never mixed.

I am not at liberty to say what I wanted to say. Let me say that when it comes to a record such as Genesis 1, we must keep it simple and not read into the account more or less than what is there. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. That much we know. Beyond that simple verse, we don't have a lot of details although Psalms and other Old Testament books do give us more information.
We do not know what part Jesus played in the creation record other than in Colossians it does say that everything was created through him.
The Word of God is deep, so deep it takes a lifetime of study and meditation upon it to ever begin to understand its magnitude. Yet, it is so simple a child need not err therein. Thank God for His wonderful and matchless Word and all it teaches us.

Hey noteditingmeyet, thanks for following so closely with me on this. This is working well for me, keeping my mind and heart engaged in the things of God! It is good to have a friend. Grant.

Dear blessings4me, I have started the pleasant process of reading your site and the blessing is taking hold already! From what is there and here, I sense that you are skilled in handling the sword-of-the-Lord? Thank you for being tactful, but i desire the truth, that i may be mature enough to receive daily exhortation, that i may become skilled in the 'no offense taken' policy found in the latter verses of Ps. 119. Grant.
