An Independent appeal to the community here
Let's see a show of hands:
HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE A PAY PAL ACCOUNT?
HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE A CREDIT CARD?
HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE A CHECKING ACCOUNT?
I would venture to say most of you raised your hand to at least one, if not all three of these questions. Why, you may wonder, am I asking you such personal questions? I have a very good answer, I think.
As you can see on the right side of the page, in the "chip in" box, we are currently sitting at 73% of our monthly goal for contributions to this site. We are also sitting at May 26th which leaves only a few days until the end of the month. We got some work left to do.
For years I have listened to Christian radio when driving and hear the half hour segments of various preachers, teachers and ministries. As much as I love listening, I am always turned off by their constant begging for money with threats of going off the air if it doesn't come in. Unfortunately many of these shows HAVE gone off the air due to lack of donations, especially in the summer months.
I am sure John doesn't want to turn the monthly mission of reaching our 100% goal into what we hear on the radio. But, the only way this won't happen is if enough people simply decide this site is worthy of a set level of donation per month. Don't most of us see money go out each month to this or that cause? Many people have payroll deductions for the United Way or other charities. Many, many people faithfully set aside their 10% tithe to their church each payday. Why not do the same here?
If you have any of the three things mentioned at the beginning of this blog, you have the vehicle by which to make a donation to this site. Of course there are not tax breaks for donating here, but the last time I checked, there weren't at the grocery store either. Our giving should not be determined by how big of credit we receive on our tax bill next year. It should be because of the love and appreciation in our hearts for what is done here.
Many years ago I was a part of a group of 70 people who made a mutual commitment to pray at the same time each day for a particular project the ministry was wanting to do but lacked the resources to carry out. I remember sitting down every day for months praying specifically for this situation for a few minutes. What I also remember is that it came to pass. Yes, in a matter of about six months God opened doors that none of the 70 of us could have ever imagined to provide the means for what we faithfully prayed for.
Prayer is not always a onetime thing just as it is not always something that must be done for hours on end. But, when it comes to seeing a project come to pass or seeing the slow but sure progression of things happen which are needed to see the fulfillment of a dream; many times it takes constant and persistent prayer.
In order for this site to grow and flourish per the original dream of its founder and owner, John; it needs us, the community of those involved, to rise up and claim this site for God's glory through prayer and faithful financial donations. Those things along with others being done by small groups of members will ensure the continued success of this site. There is no doubt in my mind that God has high and mighty plans for Christian Blog!
I write this as an exhortation to those who love this place and are blessed by what goes on here to not only push us over the finish line this month financially, but to find the means to faithfully each month give in direct proportion to your ability and how much this place blesses you. I also exhort all of us to faithfully set aside a few minutes each day to pray for this site, for John the owner, for the people here and for the continued success of this place.
If enough of us band together and do these things, there is no doubt in my mind that Almighty God will open doors that will allow this site to become all that John has poured his life into it being for many years now. I don't know about you, but as for me and my house this site is a lifeline and as such we will continue to give to it in all possible ways to its fulfillment of God's plan. Thank You.
