California Supreme Court Lifts Ban on Same Sex Marriage |

Today became one that will try the souls of those who dare believe the Bible is the Word of God. Today, the California Supreme Court ruled on various lawsuits dealing with same sex marriage. They ruled to lift the ban on such marriages which will allow California to join Massachusetts as the only two states to fully allow same sex marriage.

Next to the creation vs. evolution debate, this issue deals with the oldest subject in the Bible. The Bible clearly states in Genesis 2:24:
"Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."
God formed and made Adam and Eve and intended for them to function as a married couple. God did not make Eve and Ernie and give Adam the choice of which one he wanted to mate with. God made woman for man and man for woman. This is His will and there is no possible way to say otherwise.
God put Adam and Even on earth for a purpose as described in Genesis 1:27 and 28:
"So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth."
The covenant God made with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden consisted of this charge God gave them along with the things mentioned in chapter 2. The first element of this charge was to be fruitful and multiply. Only a man and a woman can do this. It is not possible for a man and a man to be fruitful and multiply any more than for a woman and a woman. It takes a man and woman to produce a baby for that is the way God intended and wanted it.
So, God designed the bodies of men and women in such a way to facilitate the bearing of children. From the very beginning He put a man and a woman together in a relationship called marriage. Together, man and woman were to be fruitful and multiply and subdue the earth and have dominion over all that moves on the earth. Man and woman were to live in and take care of the Garden of Eden and enjoy its fruit. There was one tree that they were forbidden to eat from, and that was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
God's will for marriage is absolute. Unlike some areas where there is a bit of room for discussion, when it comes to marriage, the issue is cut and dry. Under no circumstances would it ever be allowable for two people of the same sex to be married from God's point of view. Thus, if two people of the same sex want to get "married" such a union is strictly forbidden by God and if allowed, constitutes yet another blatant slap in His face.
As stated at the beginning of this post, other than the actual creation story, there is no subject in the Bible any older than marriage. God made sure He put His undeniable will in the very first two chapters of Genesis. Of course sinful man does not respect God's will and does all he can to undermine it and champion his own will. Thus, this whole topic is a lesson in the arrogance of man who once again feels his ideas and desires are far better than God's.
Regardless of how the court rules today in California, this subject will continue to become yet another polarizing issue which separates the progressives from the conservatives and the unbelievers from the Christians. Due to media influence and money interests, this issue will not go away regardless of the ruling today. If the court rules in favor of same sex marriage, California will be overrun in the coming months with "couples" rushing to make legal their ungodly unions.
Issues such as this one make me very thankful to know we do not have to endure this much longer. As the world spins toward its certain appointment with destruction; we look to the heavens from which our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will soon appear. Just as God saved Lot and his family from the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, so God will save us from the certain destruction of this evil world through the soon appearing of His Son. Praise God.

I have always been outspoken about G-a-y marriage. But I have been surprised as to how many Christians just Shrug there shoulders and make the facial gesture's like what is the big deal and cant we all just get along?
I have always told them it looks harmless but its not. Right after G-a-y marriage god forbid if it is passed they have something else they want to legalize. Do we truly want to allow these people to pass g-a-y marriage so we can find out? By then it would be to late.
I have been praying about this for years, I suppose I have to step it up a bit more.

We must continue to speak out against this blight on society and marriage. I did read the blog ABOMINATION. As a mother of a 36 year who has chosen this life style, my heart is broken at knowing what will happened to his soul. Yet God's word is clear and this type of marriage should not be allowed. However, the old testament practice of putting them to death right now is not an option. How can anyone come to know Jesus once they are dead?

Romans 1:22-27:

It saddens me to no end when people get caught up in this horrible, destructive behavior. It is one thing for the unsaved, for that is expected that they believe and follow the lies of the enemy, but for the Church to deem this acceptable is what troubles me. The fact that they have such a voice in our society when they only make up 1-2% of the population is also troubling. That is why I believe it is upsetting us. Because there are just as many other troubling sins, such as forniication that the church is quiet about and just accepts as "normal." I will pray and hope that homosexual marriage does not become the "norm" for this will be the culture my children will have to live in, that is unless Jesus returns! Come quickly Lord Jesus! But we must love the sinner and know they are behaving as they are because they are lost! They hear the voice of the devil and call it good.
1 Corinthians 1:18-20[18]For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. [19]For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. [20]Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
All I know is that we must pray and we must be truthful when any sin that goes against the Word of God is deemed acceptable in the church. We must love the sinner with the love of Christ and speak Truth to them so that the chains of sin can be released.

Katz, I didn't read your blog, but based on the title it sounds like where my heart is on this issue. Consider this comment an amen in abstentia.
I know and work with several g-a-y people that I would call friends. I believe God's purpose with them, as with all of us, is to reveal his love. He loves them with an everlasting love.
God's agenda is not political, but it can shape politics. Using politics to seek a spiritual end is not how the Lord operates. He brings people to him through Christ's love from another person. He changes hearts first, then actions.
So we should be careful in how we deal with this issue. The mechanism of politics only pushes away those we want to come to know Him. We can not legislate faith. And certainly letting people know how corrupt and detestable their actions are never really helps. It certainly never helped me.
My position is get them to know God and his love for them, then let God handle the rest. The fact that we have come to this point in the political and legal conversation only speaks to the fact of how the church has failed in its reaching the g-a-y community.

Sorry guys Just writing a continuation from my first post. I did not have enough time to Finish. The 3 Threats I do know for a fact that if G-a-y marriage is passed is this.
Lately the G-a-y Community which is lobbying and fighting in the courts to pass G-a-y Marriage are saying that anyone who claims homo Sexuality is a sin is a Racist and is offensive. If there wants are fulfilled I can see them persecuting the Church of Jesus Christ By Jailing anyone or pastor who Quotes from the bible homosexuality is a sin. What Might that law be, Hate Speech. Don't believe me, I wish I kept that news article about some pastor were g-a-y Marriage is legalized In Europe was Jailed for speaking out.
If G-a-y Marriage is passed worse case scenario part 2:
They will play the bigot and Hate speech card with Churches and ministries to be accepted just as they are as pastors and clergy in churches. Look we human saved souls are not perfect. From the Pastor on down we all have struggles and temptations that we bring before the Lord every day for him to help us defeat. Its one thing to be a serving Christian with these short comings and confessing our sins it is quite another story to be serving the Lord and being proud of our sin for all to see. All of us know very well if you are in a high office in church and proud of your sin and preaching god that is the real abomination. God threw the holy spirit will not work threw such a church! If the holy spirit is out of the Church you go on and follow his lead.
If G-a-y marriage is passed worse Case scenario part 3.
Our Children will be subjected to Sex Education as early as elementary School witch will teach them how to have safe g-a-y sex and encouraging our youngsters that instead of loving the opposite sex choose to love someone between your own sex. Boys should love boys and girls should love girls if you know what I mean. Don't believe me? This is being taught in some elementary schools as we speak in this very country.

I just wanted to say I do agree that we are to preach Christ to gays in a Christ loving way. But there is no getting around the fact that we have to tell them it is a sin before the Lord as well. Will they get offended well of course they will. When I read that Tract while I was taking a train ride to work that lead to my salvation it told me if I don't accept Christ and if I die in my sin I will go to hell it did hurt at first. But it was the truth of the gospel that finally got me saved.

I'm not sure how many homosexual friends you have. But I have discussed this issue with mine. They are, almost to a person, well aware that homosexuality is a sin. They share youtube videos of christians carrying signs that their behavior is an abomination to God and that they are going to hell because of their sins. They share blog posts of Christians denouncing every aspect of their lifestyles. This is not the Jesus I see in the gospels.
There are different ways that a homosexual person comes to the conclusion they are g-a-y. But for most, it was something that they were aware of since they were little kids. It was something in their life that they struggled to deal with. They tried to deny it, excuse it, pretend it didn't exist. For some it was a torturous process. Accepting this "aspect" of their lives was a trial. If you are a psychologist than you understand how difficult it is to struggle with a gender/sexual-identity issue. They are probably some of the most difficult things to deal with because the disruption occurs in such a young formative stage in life. Believe me there are g-a-y people who would pay money to stop being g-a-y. The pain they had to deal with was too much at times.
You can tell them its a sin and they should repent. But it will most likely, at best, only bring guilt and shame on them and push them further away. Homosexuality is something they feel they have no control over. We can argue over the nature versus nurture debate, but I would prefer not to. But as far as the g-a-y person is concerned its something that just is. And that is a reality the Christian must come to grips with when they deal with homosexuals, whether you believe they can control that decision or not.
I challenge you brother to look through the gospels and count the times Jesus pointed out someone's sin so that they would come to know him as the redeemer. More times than not you are going to just see Jesus with sinners. The only people Jesus got riled up over and went after were the "spiritual leaders" of the day.
Repentance is a gift from God. I never came to Christ through an understanding I was a sinner. I came to Christ because he revealed himself to me. I realized that God is alive. He took care of changing my heart after that.
So there is no "getting around this fact". It is not gospel truth that a person be told they are a sinner. You just live Christ to them as Christ lived his life demonstrated through the gospels. By doing so you will bring grace, mercy and conviction in a greater way.
btw, I live in California. So this blog post means something to me. I will watch this all go down in living color.

The scariest words, in my mind, from scripture are from Romans and Andrea quotes them above. I think the NIV says it "and God gave them over". Oh, how tragic that God should "give them over" to their sinful lusts and desires.

You see blogs rob us of having this conversation eye to eye. If you could have seen my facial gestures and how I presented it you would have understood I agree with you that we are to preach the gospel to sinners , g-a-y and straight with an agape love. Just because they reject the gospel flat out the first time does not mean there going to hell. I remember using my self as an example about reading a tract about the gospel when it said I am born in sin, My good works are as filthy rags and if I don't accept the Lord as my savior I was going to go to hell. I was shocked and upset when I read that but 2 years later I got saved. Same thing with g-a-y-s if they hear the gospel get offended but down the line there will be those who will accept the lord and there will be those that will not.
Interesting how you saw that footage of Christians saying there going to hell if they don't renounce there sin. Of course they look like hate mongers and who knows they probably were. But lord and behold brother there are plenty of peaceful Christian demonstrators at G-a-y pride parades telling them that Jesus loves them and if they can talk to them and a great many of them curse them and take there tracts or bibles right out of there hands and throw them away or stomp on them. And lets not forgot in a few of these parades were there are those g-a-y parades were they have floats with big letter saying Jesus was g-a-y and lord and behold a g-a-y man posing as Jesus on the float.
That footage of Christians could have been Christians that saw that display early on were cut to the heart and decided just to preach the gospel boldly and wound up looking like hate mongers you know, Food for thought.
All I am saying is I do sympathize to a degree for G-a-y people and when Given that chance and divine appointment I do let them know with a Christ like love that they need Jesus. Even though a great deal of them offended my Saviour. I still do and will always Share the gospel in a positive way. I do know and have learned the horror stories of how they become g-a-y. Most likely Child Molestation very few of them become g-a-y because they felt they were a woman trapped in a mans body or vise versa.
My biggest dread about the g-a-y agenda is just if they legalize there life style threw holy matrimony what I wrote in the second blog will most defiantly happen and if it does everyone is going to lose. Children, Ministries and Especial the G-a-y community. I say the G-a-y community because how can you convince them there living in sin if they have a marriage license?
Psalmthirtyseven. I hope you see my response was not negative or being Judgemental in any way. I am trying to protect Children and the Church of Jesus Christ from the Blind follies of prominent people in our government. Blind Christians that don't discern the times were living in and don't see the dangers and harm this is going to cause. My point of writing my comments were just to bring that awareness for those Christian folk out there that can pray, Pray more than ever. And for those who share the gospel don't slow down in doing so.

Opponents of same-sex marriage have already (before the state supreme court ruling) started a drive to amend the state constitution. It will be an interesting and contentious election season on this topic. Of course proponents have also begun their drive. I was walking into Target a few weeks ago when someone asked me to sign a petition to legalize same-sex marriage. I politely declined.
Prop 22 (Limits marriage to a man and woman) passed in California in 2000 with 61% of the votes. I have seen polls taken since that suggest the publics feelings about the subject have slowly eroded.
I can say this, I saw a portion of the court's hearings on the matter. The lawyer for the opponents was terrible. The guy could barely get words out of his mouth.
Should same-sex marriage stand it will be interesting to watch, over time, what the affects are. Suicide, drug-use, infidelity and promiscuity is high among the g-a-y community. What societal affects will come of complicating their situation with marriage -- divorce, child adoption, etc.
Of the g-a-y people I know, there is a deep, and odd, insecurity in them. No matter what they try to do to legitimize this aspect of their lives, nothing outside of Jesus will work. Their hearts really long for wholeness, love and acceptance. Unfortunately they try to find those things in the wrong ways.
I hope that, even with these rights conferred on them, they realize nothing can fill that God sized hole in their hearts.

I believe that when Roe vs. Wade ended in the legalization of abortion, we started having trouble with our kids. Before they would get in little trouble watch an episode of Leave It To Beaver, Andy Griffith or even Happy Days to get a picture of what I am saying. I know there use to be trouble makers back then, but if you still dont get it think about how kids nowadays are divorcing their parents, drive by shootings, teen pregnancy, killing their parents, ......GROWING UP HOMOSEXUAL.
You can say they are born that way if you want, but we all have sins that we are tempted with (we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers).
I would be tempted with the advances of someone of the opposite sex, but that does not mean I can justify in the bible or any other means that I should have rights in a church for me and my mistress. I would like to mention that I will never cheat on my wife and if I do I fully expect to be convicted of God. It might be that "guilt and shame" is the very thing I would need to repent and come back to God (maybe like the same way my dad used a switch). I pray that I never have anything in my life which is unpleasant to God, I am scared just giving that example. However I have a brother-in-law that is homosexual and I also have a sister who is, and I pray continually in the name of Jesus that God delivers them, and He can if they will.
(I) use to think if (I) made a mistake witnessing to someone that God would not be able to work with them because (I) offended them or in some other way kept God from performing his will. But I truly think if God wants to save that person he can do it with me or without me and regardless of what i (little i) do. He doesn't need me to perform His will, but I am glad he chooses to use me sometimes. Homosexuality is an abomination I think we all know that, God hates homosexuality, but he loves the person.
If this thing continues and our country legalizes same sex marriage we are going to be in trouble, Sin will lead our nation and we will fall. We the church will be persecuted for our beiefs in the bible possibly to the point of executions. This might be hard to see now but it will be seen as prejudism, and with prejudism comes hatred and with hatred comes violence. Now is the time where we need to stand fast to the Word of God, this must be a line in the sand. We must deny this abomination with every fiber in our being no matter what the consequence.
Even so come quickly Lord Jesus

I just wanted to thank all of you weighing in on this discussion. This is what Christians need to do more of. Just talk about some of these difficult issues instead of writing words on a sign and marching somewhere. It didn't work with abortion and won't work on this subject either.
I think most everyone would agree that the Bible specifically speaks on this subject, that is not the issue. What the issue comes down to is how to deal with the increasingly liberal court systems and soon to be Congress. How to deal with the non-stop propaganda spewing from television sets as the networks pump their junk into young people's minds. How to deal with the educational system which last fall in California more or less opened the door to forbidding words such as "mom" and "dad" in schools. How to deal with colleges which more and more allow kids of opposite sex to share not only floors but ROOMS.
Anyway, all any of us can do is speak the truth IN LOVE and take all appropriate stands in our own lives so that those looking for the light can find it.

And people, especially christians wonder why they should get out and vote!
these judges willingly abrogated the will of the people to pander to special interests... even though the people of california votied against this nonsense!( I know! I voted to ban same sex marriage when I lived on the Left Coast!)
We are to 'render unto Cesar what is Cesar's" and Cesar( the government) wants our input, and that's why we vote!
Since so many christians have decided not to take an active part in the political process for whatever the reason... we have a government being slowly eroded by ungodly and corrupt influences and now we're wringing our hands and spitting mad... (myself included!)
So, get in contact with the AFA(the American Family Association) the FRC(the Family Research Council- a ministry of Focus on the FAmily). the ACLJ (the American Center for Law and Justice) and get busy people! These organizations get results! They'll get more results with more support! We're supposed to occupy this world until the Saviour returns and we've been sleeping on the job!
