While some think only of the vengeance of God, I choose to dwell upon His everlasting goodness and abounding mercy. While some emphasize only the power of God, I choose to abide in His grace and His love.
God is love. Those three simple words changed my life 43 years ago. God is love. Can God make it any simpler? God is love. When we get down to the essence of who and what God is; God is love.
The love, mercy, grace and goodness of God leads a person to repentance. The love, mercy, grace and goodness of God allows any of us to climb out of the hole this world threw us in and rise up into the glorious light of Godliness.
I think we all are guilty at times of making this Christianity thing way too complicated, difficult and frustrating. If we can cast off all the outward religious trappings and get back to that which is most important, we can bask in the warm glow of God’s love, mercy, grace and goodness.
Almighty God, the creator of the heavens and earth loves us. This one statement alone should bring us to our knees in humble adoration. That almighty God would see past the utter fiasco we have made of our lives and love us should bring tears to our dry eyes and soften even the hardest of hearts.
God is good and His mercy endures forever. No matter what, we must never lose sight of this great truth. The goodness and mercy of God is what reaches into the heart encased in the concrete of pride, fear or doubt and softens it and allows the love of God to change it.
By God’s grace we are saved. All our good works will never save us and win for us eternal life. Only through and by the grace of God are we delivered from darkness into light and saved from eternal death and given the glorious hope of an eternity with God.
God is love. God is good. God is merciful. God is gracious. I pray that with everything going on in our hectic lives we never lose sight of these things. I pray that no matter how dark the times get, how hopeless things appear or how horrible life becomes, we always remember who God really is.
43 years ago, it was the love, goodness, mercy and grace of God that stepped into my life and transformed me. It was not a mean and angry God who threatened me with eternal damnation but rather a loving and forgiving God who tenderly held me and changed me forever.
Oh how my heart is filled with joy and thanksgiving as I meditate upon the love, goodness, mercy and grace of my God. Oh how my heart is flooded with love for my God who loved me enough to give His son to save me. Please, take some time and remember that God is love, God is good and His mercy and grace endure forever.
