As I sit here, I am being serenaded by one VERY unhappy kitty cat who wants to go outside (as per his habit early in the morning) but cannot today. In a bit I must take Mr. Cat to the vet to check out a lump in his belly. The only way to get the cat is to keep him inside until it is time to go; thus the reason for the incessant meowing.
The cat does not understand for he is incapable of such reasoning. All he knows is that his normal routine has been interrupted and he figures if he yells long and loud enough he will get his way. Little does he know that today all his cries will fall on deaf ears for there is a better plan for his little life on this day than what he is used to.
So many times we cry out to God in anger or frustration when we do not get what we want when we want it. When our nice comfortable life is interrupted by a change of plans we do the same things Jehosacat is doing today. Since we don’t understand, we whine and cry and throw tantrums thinking such behavior will influence whoever has messed up our day.
More times than I could ever remember, I have had days where everything I thought I was supposed to do was destroyed and I ended up stuck in neutral seemingly doing nothing. In frustration I have cried out to God to “fix” what is wrong so I can get on with my life. Sometimes He has, but many times my pleas have fallen on deaf ears.
God knows everything and He knows what is best for our lives. As much as it bothers us when our best laid plans come to naught, if we really trust in God to watch over us and guide us, we must yield to a higher power and flow with His will.
I remember vividly a time when I needed to get to a meeting that I was running late for. About half way there I had a sudden need to get off the highway and use the restroom. This greatly angered me and I was still grumbling about it as I got back on the road.
About five miles later I ended up snaked my way through an accident zone where a huge truck had smashed into a car and another truck smashed into the first truck. I found out later 4 people were killed in that accident. I also found out that if I would not have stopped to use the restroom, I would have probably been the car involved in the accident.
Either God is watching over us or He is not. Either we trust in God that He knows what is best or we don’t. Either we yield to His higher power or we don’t. The next time YOUR plans go amuck, remember that quite possibly your loving Heavenly Father is protecting you or guiding you to a special blessing only He knows about. Wait on the Lord, trust in the Lord and yield to His higher power.
