You are never alone
There are times in all of our lives when we feel desperately alone. Whether during horrible storms when the lightning is flashing and thunder is rolling or traveling on a dark night on a lonely road; at times we are faced with the realization that we are utterly and completely alone. Depending on how we view this, it can either be very frightening or lead us to a much deeper love and appreciation of our Lord.
God has given us a promise in Psalms 23 that we must never forget. David says in Psalms 23:4:
"Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me."
No matter how difficult the situation may be, the promise of God is that He is with us and thus we need not have any fear. No matter how long the journey or how high the mountain; God has promised to be there guiding and comforting us with His rod and staff. Even when we must tread through the very valley of the shadow of death, God is there holding us by the hand.
See, we are never really ever totally alone. God is always there, no matter what the mind says or the circumstances seem to imply. The darker the night and the more violent the storm, the more we need to hold fast to this promise and never let it go.
Many years ago one of my favor Christian artists wrote a song whose lyrics I have loved and held on to during times of trouble many times. Dallas Holm's song He'll dry the tears is a classic in my books:
He'll dry the tears from your eyes
He'll take the pain from your heart
He'll move the clouds from your skies
He'll dry the tears from your eyes
He knows the way that you feel
He's felt the weight that you bear
He knows it's all very real
He knows the way that you feel
(Chorus)
For He is touched with the feelings of your weaknesses
He has been there too
In your despair remember all His promises
He will see you through
He'll never leave you alone
He'll always stay by your side
A friend like none you have known
He'll never leave you alone
I pray we all remember that He will never ever forsake us and because of that we are never alone.
