What is healthy?

Hey ya'll (can you tell I from the south), I love food. If I could, I would eat all day, but that isn't physically possible, nor is it healthy, so I just keep it to three squares. If I didn't love food so much I could probably loose weight. I can't seem to loose the baby fat from my youngest daughter. I seem to be finding fat deposits in all areas of my body. And now that I am over 30, they just don't seem to budge. I remember when I was in my early twenties, I could loose weight by just doing nothing really. Now, I have to literally starve myself for nigh unto 40 days and 40 nights, plus do copius amounts of exercise. I can't just hit the treadmill for 20 minutes and think I've done something, no, I must do hours upon hours of workout and make sure that I sweat buckets just to loose a measley 2 pounds. TWO POUNDS!! Give me a break. I look back at old pictures of myself and think "if only..." But, what's the point, I don't think I'll ever be that size again. I've been told that now I have a woman's body, I don't know what that means, but what I do know is that I want my pre-kids body back. Kids don't even know what they really do to you. I used to be thin and cute. Now I am bigger, but still cute
I'll keep you posted as I strive to loose weight and try to get back to the "thin" me.
Anyway, I think I've ranted enough for today.
I want to give you guys this recipe for a fat free cake. It was delicious! I found it on eathealthyamerica website and made a few minor modifications to it.

1 betty crocker angle food cake mix
1 20 oz can crushed pineapple
1 8oz tub fat-free whipped topping
1/2 c toasted coconut ( I love toasted coconut so I used about a cup)

Heat the oven to 350. Mix the cake mix with the pineapple juice and all. Place in a greased casserole dish ( I have no idea what size, but a fairly large one) and cook for about 30 minutes until knife in center comes out clean. Let cool

Top with whipped topping, coconut and viola!

I wonder if these variations will work. Someone try them out and let me know. 1 8oz can of pineapple and 1 8oz can of mandarin oranges and 1/4c water or 1/4 cup of cocoa powder and 1&1/2 cups of water with a little dusted cocoa powder on top of the whipped topping.

Let me know.

Ciao!

Hi, Candigirl:

My name is Betty and I am new to the group. Really new!!! I read your post and have some answers for you- you can add the 8 ounces of pineapple and the 8 can of mandarin oranges but adding the water will not work. You can add the cocoa powder to the cake mix and it will fine. You might want to try adding 3 Tablespoons of cocoa to the whipped topping for an extra little treat.

I, too, have a weight problem and I am working on it through a Bible based weight lose program. I have lost 37 pounds since Thanksgiving. If you would like I can send you some of my recipes. They are really quite good and your family will never know that they healthy, unless you tell them.

Blessing,
Betty

I too have a weight problem, so I can definately relate. It is not easy when you love food , but i have found something that works for me.

I have adopted the Daniel Fast (using those guidelines have helped me alot... but of course I have tweeked it a little bit )

Along with this...I have started eating smaller meals a day (like 4-5), so portions have decreased dramatically

I drink alot of water throughout the day, which keeps me full and hydrated

I have also started drinking alot of herbal teas to reduce cholesterol, high blood pressure, cleaning out my system...etc things like that

And I do light exercise.

I also sleep alot more... sleeping at least 8-10 hours (if you can) at night can really help, because what happens is your system is at a level where it burns more calories even though your body is at rest. You burn tons of calories when your sleeping through the night and getting enough sleep period.

But the best two things that have worked for me is prayer and reduction of stress. Prayer because it keeps me motivated, strenghtened, and encouraged. Reduction of stress, because once I let it all go to God, I no longer carried alot of excess baggage. Stress can really stop you from losing weight and can even allow you to gain weight...so this was the biggest factor for me, so do this, along with a better diet, drinking water, sleeping, and exercise.

I was 245 but now I am about 205... so I have lost alot of weight... .this has helped me so I really hope it helps you

Also~~~~~~~~~~> what is the bible based weight loss program? would love to know being that I need to lose 30 more pounds.

Sorry I do not have any recipes... but just wanted to help and give encouragement...you are not the only one and if you take it one day at a time...you will see, things will start to change.

You are so right sent4frmheaven. I have noticed that I have gained a little bit of weight because I am not sleeping. When I get sleepy, I tend to eat everything that doesn't eat me first. I also noticed that drinking green tea helps.

It is so interesting that I have no problems turning over the big stuff to the Lord, but I neglect to turn over my eating habits to him. If he can conquer stuff like my finances and help my marriage, why can't He help me turn over a new leaf with eating.

My new motto is "Give It (EVERYTHING) To God!!" It's hard, it seems like there is just some stuff that I think I can handle on my own, but there is, apparently, nothing that I can handle on my own. I believe that is just the way God wants it. He wants us to be totally dependent on Him. (This leaves no room for human error.)

Sometimes, when it comes to God, I am so dense. Faith is gained through God solving all problems, even weight problems or eating problems. God wants us to be at our optimum at all times, this means that he wants us to be healthy.

Sorry. I wasn't trying to preach. Well, maybe I was a little bit, but it was to myself. I tend to take things a little more seriously when it is written down.

I am going to try weight loss with a different approach. I am going to "Give It To God." I am going to, before I open my eyes in the morning, pray for strength to conquer my bad habits through the day. I know God will bless me.

P.S. I don't know what the Bible based weight loss program is. Can anyone explain this to me and sent4frmheaven?
