God Our Chiseler

So many times we hear
The phrase white as snow
I've always loved that phrase
But here's a new look on the phrase
Sometimes we see snow that has been covered in dirt
That's been walked on and trampled
But that's only the surface
If you chisel away
Underneath you see sparkling white snow
This is what God showed me

We are the snow
Sometimes we get into messes
And get covered in dirt
Sometimes people walk all over us
We are no white or sparkling

But He's chiseling away
He smoothes us out
He washes all the dirt off
Until we are white
Shining with the grace of God

We only see the dirt
We only see the scars from where people have walked on us
But God digs underneath
He washes all of it clean again.

With His love He comes
And He makes us new
He takes the broken pieces
He takes the dirt
And He takes the hard spots
And starts chiseling away
Until we are new again.

He is our chiseler
He chisels with care
And preciseness
He still sees us white as snow
As He is transforming us
His righteousness covers us
As He is cleaning up our mess
His righteousness covers us
And we are white as snow

White as snow
Shining with the grace and the love of God
White as snow
He has washed us white with His blood
Because with His blood He paid the price
He offered up His life
White as snow
He makes us white as snow

When all we see is a broken mess
We've been walked on
Lied to, sinned against, let down
He still loves us
And washes us white as snow
He washes away the dirt and the scars
When we've sinned
Covered in our own mistakes
He still loves us
He washes us white as snow
He washes away dirt and the scars
We are white as snow in the sight of God.

Dear Laurie--"Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow." Psalm 51:7

Beautifully said. There are parts of ourselves--heart, soul, mind and spirit--that get dirtied by life, and we cannot reach them. Only Jesus is able to reach in with surgical presision to clean out the mud and the crud that get into us because of living in a fallen world.

Beautifully said, dear sister. Bless you. Ron
