Why did God allow this to happen?

Why did God allow this happen? A friend who is attending my church asked this question after she lost her child during her pregnancy. This woman is actually a friend of a friend. She is not a Christian and doubts if God even exists. The reason for this I m sure is because the loss of her child.
The true question here is why is there evil in the world? If God exists and is all loving and all powerful why does evil still prevail? One can not deny the existence of evil in this world. Some my say that evil is just an illusion but I do not think this explanation would hold much weight for my friend. So what are the other alternatives? That God does not love? If this is so then why would she care to know his Son? God is not all powerful? If this were true then how is God any better than any other created being?
These are the questions that she had. So how do I or you as Christians answer these questions? First we have to understand where evil came from and what it is exactly. Most of us know that evil was introduced into this world through the prompting of Adam and Eve by Lucifer to disobey God s commandment to not eat from a certain tree. There own free choice to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is what brought sin and evil into the world. Freedom is good and we know this because after God had finished his creative work he pronounced it so, however this freedom makes evil possible.
Some including myself have wondered why God just didn t create humans with the ability not to sin in the first place. This would require however that we would be, in a sense simple robots only able to respond in the way God programmed us to think and act. God does not want this. Instead he wants us to freely give him love thus the creation of free will.
So we know that evil is the consequence of redirecting our free will away from the desires of God towards our own desires. Adam and Eve did this in the garden thus plunging this world and every creature in it into the curse of sin and death.
So what does all this mean to my friend who, in some ways is still mourning the death of her child? How is this supposed to comfort her? First is to know that God does not want evil. God did not cause evil and he is not the author of it. Death is an unfortunate part of the curse of sin and evil. Just because God has not fully dealt with evil yet does not mean that he will never deal with it.
This is not the best possible world but it is the best way to the best possible world. The main point to remember here is that God is not yet finished! I want to tell her that her child right now is in the arms of our loving father and she can be as well one day if she trusts in him now.

We are given so much information about such as this in the account of the beginning. I suppose that is why so much doubt is placed upon much of it. Rebellion on the tempters part, and our choice to believe his lies, I believe.

Praise God, Jesus Christ came to reconcile us, and defeat the works of darkness, through obedience and submission to God. Something satan does not understand at all.

Great blog. You said it great. God Bless.

:welcome: to CB. May it bless you as it has blessed me.

May I first point out something in regards to the technical aspect of writing blogs first? Please use paragraphs. For the most part, if people see one long paragraph, they will not read them. You have a written a good blog but in it's current format, people will either just skim it or not bother to read it at all and that would be too bad.

Why did God allow this to happen? That's a question people often ask. The best response, I believe is that God is sovereign. No, He does not bring evil upon us but He does choose whether or not He will allow us to go through something or not. We must also remember we live in a fallen sinful world. Things like pain, sickness and death happen because humanity fell and this is the result of that.

I have not lost a child and my heart aches for your friend. My "sorrow" has been different. Mine has involved physical illness in the form of breast cancer, a ruptured brain aneurysm and a stroke. All of this has happened within the past four years. I have been a member here at CB for four and a half years, before any of this occurred and blogged extensively as I was going through these things. If you click on my name, you can read about it in my profile.

Do I fully understand why God allowed me to go through treatment and face these other things? No. What I can tell you, however, is that He has been with me every step of the way. He truly is the "God of Hope" (Romans 15:13), regardless of our circumstances. I can tell you that I have learned things during my journey and it has impacted my life. I can tell you that I've been able to minister to people in a manner not previously possible as a result of my "suffering" and I have learned that God is bigger than anything I can possibly encounter.

I have come to understand that though I am weak, the God whom I love and serve is not and if I allow Him to do so, He truly does turn my darkness into light (Psalm 18:28). No, I don't "understand" but I know that God is and that He will never, ever let me go.

Blessings!

Brother Chosenandfre, yes your friend is going through a difficult time. Yet the loss of a child is not from God. God does not cause anyone to die prematurely, it's the devil who wants before the foundation of the earth to be God and who wants to destroy all lives so that many will not return to God.

I'm sure that the unborn child is now with Jesus ,so comfort your friend. Regarding the miscarriage and many misfortunes in this world, we do not have the full answer until we reach the other Shore. It's important therefore to pray for everything, for everyone even when one is pregnant so that a new mother can bring the baby to full term. Pray for full protection everyday too.

Thanks for sharing. Do sumit a prayer request at the prayer section so that many can pray for your friend.

Blessings always

This is my thoughts on the subject of evil in the world, not necessarily your friends situation.

The way I look at things is that most of the evil on this world is man's fault. Murder, stealing, lying, war, greed, not helping other people all because man does not follow the laws of God. For example the 10 commandments are not given to restrict us from having fun but to help us love God and man. But yet man can't following them.

So man is evil although most thinks themselves as good. Man has free will and say I will do what I want. So a person drinks until drunk and get into a car and kills a person, who fault it that, God?

To stop evil on the planet God will have to remove the evil men and women from the world and remove the institutions of man that has failed. He will do that, it is called the great tribulation, people won't like it but the end results in that Christ will rule on earth bringing righteousness, peace, joy, and removing sickness, hunger, and the problems brought about by man rule. It will be a great time on Earth but to get there major surgery must be preformed.

But we must remember that God sent His Son to earth to help us and what happened, we killed Him? What more do people want from God? I know, they want God to protect them and bless them without surrendering their will to Him. Not going to happen.

Often people say to God why did you let this happen to me? God often responds, why didn't listen to my warnings. People often want God's blessings, but do they even seriously talk to Him, do they ask His advise, do they develop a relationship with Him?

However, we do live on this planet that has natural forces at work just bad things can happen to good people. God stated that it rains on the just and unjust. If you live where there are hurricanes, you will have to endure hurricanes, if you live in earthquake prone areas you will have to endure earthquakes and so on. All these things was made by God to make life on this planet possible given the rules of physics that God created.

Good can come out of bad. A few years ago my house was damaged to the tune of $17,000 due to a hail storm. Seems bad but I had insurance (wisdom should be used in life, protect your access) and when all things was done, I had a new roof, better sky lights, better siding because the old style was manufacture discontinued and a new car port. Our church drummer was in an accident and was not at fault, his truck was old and ended up being totaled, with the settlement he bought a better truck and a set of digital drums, we started a new church and our building is too small for normal drums but the digital works.

God is a restorer. My daughter lost her second child with a miscarriage but God had given her four more. My niece has had two miscarriages, it is hard when this happens. There is usually a physical reason but the emotional toil on the woman can be hard, the Holy Spirit is the comforter and can remove the pain. My wife was seriously hurt in a car accident as a child, the doctor said she won't be able to have children, we had two.

Death of the physical body is not evil, we will all be raised from the dead, the righteous until everlasting life in a special body, the wicked to the second death. Be twice born and only die once, be once born and die twice.

God is looking for people that will trust Him, to them He offers everlasting life. This world will test you, but trust in God to see you through to the prize that is before you. We don't always know the reasons why things happen because we don't know the future, when we give up on our rebellion and stop fighting God, accept the Gift of God, salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ the Son of God and become sealed with the Holy Spirit we will know that things will work out for our best but not always why.

Job was without blame and suffered the lost of almost everything, but he kept his faith in God. God restored everything and more but never really explained to Job why it happened.

I just had another thought. God gave man a place without problems, it was climate control didn't even need clothes, plenty of food and even this tree that had a fruit that would renew our bodies so we won't die. To keep this place there was one small little rule, do not eat the fruit of a particular tree, everything else was OK. But man couldn't even keep that simple rule and lost the place.

Oh, by the way you may have heard of the place, the Garden planted by God in Eden. Paradise lost, God gives us another chance to gain paradise, not the old one but a new one, where eyes hasn't seen, nor ears heard, nor has it enter into the heart of man what it will be like. Now I can image big things so this new place has got to be very very special.

Jesus is the door to the new paradise.
