Features Removed: Bulletins and Shoutouts
Due to an overwhelming response of love and adoration by the ChristianBlog.Com community towards the My Wall feature we added to ChristianBlog.Com back on January 18 2009, we have found that the features of the "Bulletins" and "Shoutouts" have become depreciated by features that exist, or will in the near future, within the "My Wall" feature of ChristianBlog.Com!
We have been tracking the usage of the Bulletins and Shoutouts since we activated the "My Wall" feature since we enabled the "My Wall" feature for all accounts on 02/22/2009 and we have realized that what we figured would be the case is indeed the case - that is, that the "My Wall" feature would end up replacing the Bulletins and Shoutout features.
Since the "My Wall" feature was enabled there have been a total of eight (8) bulletins sent. Before the "My Wall" feature was added to ChristianBlog.Com it was common to see that many being sent within a week. So clearly the CB members have come to realize that there is some serious feature-power within the "My Wall" feature!
The same can be said for shoutouts, only multiplied probably 8 or 10 fold. Before the "My Wall" feature was added we would see 50-100 shoutouts being sent in a week. For the last few months we have not even had 10 shoutouts sent. Clearly, again, the "My Wall" feature has trumped the shoutout feature in love and usage by our members!
So, it is time to realize that the "My Wall" feature has finally caused the Bulletins and shoutouts to be depreciated and remove them from the website all together.
What we will be working on in the week(s) ahead is the ability to push a message to somebody elses wall. Think of this as a "wall shoutout" or such. We are not sure what we will call it but it will allow friends to send each other messages to them from their "My Wall" - rather than only being able to "comment" on a persons wall. This will provide a nearly identical feature such as the Shoutouts feature did, only within our newly beloved Wall. We will, of course, provide a public notification of when this new feature is operational.
