In December of this year ChristianBlog.Com will be 8 years old - an amazingly adventure it has been - filled with tremendous blessing after blessing!
As the owner of the website, I cannot help but to stop and ponder on the real truth of what this website is: an online ministry that is uniting together Christians from around the world (over 225 countries and provinces so far!) where they are able to bless others and be blessed by others!
I really do think that more than anything, blessings is the underlining aspect of what the ChristianBlog ministry is all about. So much of Christendom has seemingly forgotten what this means. It is a simple act, that of blessing others. It could be a phone call to somebody you know. It could be feeding a family in need. It could be giving somebody a Bible. It could be sharing a Bible verse with a loved one. It could be flying across the globe to meet somebody.
ChristianBlog.Com will very soon be in a situation where it needs to be blessed. As the sole owner of the website I have been covering the vast majority of the expenses of the website for the last five+ years, as the website has grown its financial inflow has been unable to keep up with its costs. So I am putting out a plea for our members to come forward and join together with each other.
I am putting together a fund drive that will seek to cover the vast majority of the expenses of the website. This is not just a one-time fund drive but a month-to-month one. No different than what you hear from your local Christian radio station - they need folks to come forward and help pay their bills - so do we. We are a ministry just as they are - and some feel we are even a bigger ministry as we reach a world-wide audience of both Christians and non-Christians, rather than just a local/region area like most radio stations.
Pledge Drive: 100 x 50
Here is what we need:
We need 100 people to come forward and commit to a $50 dollar a month financial pledge.
We need to raise at least $5,000 (five thousand) dollars in monthly financial support.
We realize that not everybody can afford $50 dollars a month so if you are able to support at the $25 dollars a month level, we will link you together with another Christian that can also support at $25 a month. The goal being that we need to reach $5000 per month - whether it comes in from 10 people or 100 people or 250 people - one way or other we need to reach $5,000 of monthly financial support very soon.
Transparency and Truths:
To be very clear about why this is necessary: For the last decade, since I left the ministry as a minister (in the four walls of a church) I have been building up a number of websites that have been able to generate a profit. A few of these other websites have done very well over the years. So well that I have been able to off-set the monthly losses (negative funds) that the ChristianBlog.Com ministry. Unfortunately, as the ChristianBlog.Com website/ministry has continued to grow, continued to reach tens of thousand of new people each month, and continued to grow faster than any other Christian Blog Service Provider in the world, it has meant that I have had to devote nearly all of my time to keep the ChristianBlog.Com website going. This has meant that the other websites have suffered - and over the last two years as I have been totally consumed by the ministry here at ChristianBlog.Com nearly all of my other websites have reached a point where they have not been kept up-to-date and thus continue to make the profit that they once did. It was a decision I had to make three years ago. It was a hard decision, one I knew could eventually cause me trouble in the future if ChristianBlog.Com was able to become self-sufficient. Sadly it has not and now I am suffering serious financial issues in the coming months. These are the facts, I believe in being open and honest about it, and decisions made are decisions made, we cannot go back and change them - and honestly, I would not want too, ChristianBlog.Com is a ministry worth investing everything I have into.
I also feel, in being open and honest with the ChristianBlog.Com Community, I should share what will happen if we are unable to reach the $5,000 monthly support mark. It will be the hardest decision I will probably ever have to make concerning the ChristianBlog.Com ministry: I will be forced into a position of no longer depending upon good-will, upon the knowledge that those who support ChristianBlog.Com truly believe in keeping the ChristianBlog.Com website the way it is. Should we not reach the goal of $5,000 dollars monthly support, the ChristianBlog.Com website will turn into an "all paid" website. What this will mean is that all members/bloggers will have to either become paying members or they will no longer be able to use the website. We will give an initial 60 day 'free trial' after which all existing members and any future members will have to become full paying members. We will offer a multi-tier membership where different levels of financial support will gain you access to ever better and more powerful features of the website. I have fought against turning the ChristianBlog.Com ministry into an all-paid website for five years. Some out there know just how hard I have fought against this - know how much I have suffered to prevent this. It is the absolute last course-of-action that I have ever had. I have tried almost every idea that has been brought forth to me, and even some of my own ideas, to attempt to get ChristianBlog.Com to be financially self-sufficient. This one last "100x50 Pledge Drive" is the last-ditch effort on my part to see if the ChristianBlog.Com community can join together to help me get the ChristianBlog.Com ministry to be financially self-sufficient. I just want to be clear here: I will extend a very large amount of blessings to those members who have been long-time members who simply are unable to become monthly supporting members. I know many of those who are not able to, but not everyone - CB is a very big website with almost 20,000 people after all. I will have a way for those who simply are not able to pay to remain a member to continue to be a member for as long as you want to be a member and cannot afford to pay. I simply refuse to turn away people and if it means I pay for some of them out of my own pocket, that is what I will do. I also know that there are nearly a dozen people who have come forward to me offering to cover the costs of those who cannot afford to. The last thing in the world that I want is for people to leave ChristianBlog.Com because they do not have the financial means to remain members - and I will do what I can to prevent that from happening - should the time even come when I might have to make CB an all-paid website. I am trusting and believing in the members of this website to come forward so that none of this will even have to happen.
I believe in sharing the facts. The fact is that by the time ChristianBlog.Com reaches the age of 8 years old (December of this year) I will have personally invested right at a half million dollars into the ChristianBlog.Com ministry - out of my own pocket. This is not a case of me not doing my part. I am not seeking out to become rich or to take money from Christians. I am a minister who has had the ability to fund a ministry, but that is quickly coming to an end. This is not a cheap ministry to keep going. The $5,000 dollars I am looking to raise will likely not even cover all of the expenses of the website. Just a few weeks ago we had to invest money into a new server (a computer that runs a website). A website the size of ChristianBlog.Com demands the most state-of-the-art servers in the world. The server I purchased and moved the primary website over too is a mid-level server. It would cost us around $3000 dollars more a month to acquire the necessary servers and equipment needed to truly make the ChristianBlog.Com be as it should for all of our world-wide members. Advertisements have simply not worked on this website. A website the size of ChristianBlog.Com should be able to completely, or nearly, totally fund itself from advertisements alone. For reasons we cannot understand our members and visitors simply do not click on advertisements. This has resulted in a massive under-expectation for inflow from advertisements. Should we go to an all-paid website we are expecting to nearly completely remove advertisements from the website, simply because they perform that poorly for us.
What I am trying to do is to show that I have taken every step that had to be taken to try to make ChristianBlog.Com financially self-sufficient - and in the end we have never been able to even get close. I truly do not want to take the website into the "all paid" world of websites. It is an abhorrent idea to me. Yet in the end I may be faced with the decision to have to do so in an attempt to keep the website operational. By years-end the ChristianBlog.Com ministry, one way or another, will need to become financially self-sufficient.
Reaching The Billions:
As I started this blog with, I believe in blessings. For nearly 8 years I have been providing the way for tens of thousand of Christians to come together to bless each other - and tens of millions of blog readers from around the world have been blessed by those who blog at ChristianBlog.Com!
Very few times have I truly come forward and asked for financial help in a desperate way. This is hopefully going to be the last time I need to do so. Why? Because I believe through the power of God blessing all of you out there, that when all of you join together, you can bless this ministry some.
In the end, $25 dollars a month is not a lot of money for most people. For those on fixed income, for those without work; I understand $25 dollars can seem like a lot. I am not, and never ever have, asked anybody to put themselves into a position of hurting themselves financially. I will not do that now.
The simple fact is: ChristianBlog.Com has almost 20,000 members. I am asking for but a small percentage of you all to come forward with a few dollars of your money, and by joining together we can get ChristianBlog.Com to become financially self-sufficient! A time for serious blessings is at hand -- a time to Bless ChristianBlog.Com itself. To bless my ministry. To bless what God has allowed me to do for all of you: to build and keep online what many people believe to be the worlds most impactful Christian website that exists.
I no longer have a pulpit in the four walls of a church to minister from. Instead, God has moved me to ministering the the billions. There are over 2 billion Christians in the world. ChristianBlog.Com has maybe blessed a million of them over the last nearly-eight years. Help me reach some more! But more than that, I am just the vessel, the guy building the website... what those who come forward to financially support are actually doing is help each other reach the billions! Through the very presence of the ChristianBlog.Com website being online, Christians from around the world have the ability to write and publish Christian blogs. It is through them that the billions will be reached. So yes, help me reach the billions - but also, help each other reach the billions!
