Milagros Milagros and Outcry

This is a poem I wrote after hearing the news last week about a two year old girl that was killed in one of the shanty towns here in Buenos Aires. Two boys (seven and nine years old) have been implicated in the crime (article link below). The girl's name, Milagros, means "miracles" in Spanish. The second poem was written at another time.

MILAGROS

Milagros, Milagros,
How could it be that you were,
Only two?
If I'd seen you before,
Yes surely I have,
I might have even been tempted to,
Despise you.
You dirty,
You tangled mangled hair,
You rotten brown teeth,
You with a brownness to your skin and a blackness,
Under you nails and your feet,
You face of poverty.
I might have even imagined them,
Abusing you.
And now you dangle there naked limp and lifeless,
Crucified for me.
For I am to blame for your death,
For my content self swims in your blood,
And in the blood of many others,
Bleeding and dying,
For me.
Don't show them the poverty she says,
Show them the joy.
Don't show them the filth she says,
Show them the hope.
Don't show them the death she says,
Show them a lie.
Let me look upon you, your,
Naked bruised body,
You child Christ.
Now as before just a body or,
Just tangled mangled lice filled hair,
Or rotten brown teeth.
I see your smile again next to me,
Another one waiting to die.

OUTCRY

I cry out.
For if not I rip my heart out,
For you.
I cry out.
For if not nothing in heaven or on earth,
Will save me from what hurt I feel from you,
Or for you,
Between us so ever deep.
And yet I must rejoice,
When you revile me,
Rejoice in your persecution of me,
But how? How can this be so?
And the Lord's blood spills forth,
And the Lamb's blood spills forth,
And my Saviour's blood spills forth,
And God's blood spills forth,
And pools at my feet.
A great pool of blood.
So I must rejoice at this?
Rejoice!
Rejoice at the spilling of blood,
Lambs wool stained crimson,
Rejoice!
Body broken bent upon the cross,
Rejoice!
Death in the air,
Death, yes in His death,
Rejoice!
For you are persecuted,
And you are slain,
Rejoice for the Kingdom is at hand.

Clay,
This moved and touched me deeply.
I pray constantly for the plight of this earth, and the people on it!!
Satan is preying on our youth, destroying the morals that keep us safe as a society. And way too many "God fearing people" find no problem deciding who is "worthy" for His love, and look the other way when our young start to stray thinking there is nothing they could do!!
Praise God He has given your heart the power to see all our faults within ourselves that helped to bring this world to where it is today!!
There are NONE without fault!!
YSIC.

I am eagerly awaiting your next blogs, and pray you will continue to share your thoughts with us. I am very pleased to see you have recently checked in to Christianblog again. Your blogs have opened my mind to so many thoughts I don't know where to begin to thank you. Sometimes I hope you will further consider the great Jewish virtues temperance and moderation, and St Ignatius' teaching of indifference. We can both be a bit harsh, I think. God bless you. Please write more.
