Is Christianity Intolerant?

On September 11, 2001, America was attacked by radical Islamic terrorists, killing thousands of people, mostly American citizens. This attack brought about a change in how we see the world, the Islamic faith, and in our own look on faith in general. Now, almost 10 years after the attack, Muslims wish to build a Mosque two blocks away from ground zero and we as tolerant' people are giving in slowly to their wants and needs.

In the news, A church in Gainsville, Florida has planned an event to burn the Koran on that day as a protest against Radical Islam. Everyone else in this country call it intolerant and not politically correct to do so, as they fear offending muslims. These Muslims that we plan to offend are the same ones who burn bibles, burn effigies of our president and government officials, as well as go out to kill our soldiers and civilians without remorse or pity. These are people who if you even HINT at drawing a picture of Mohammed or displaying an image of him in any way that is funny, you risk death threats, bombings and violence. But it's ok for South Park to do Jesus as a low-budget talk show host on a public television station. Double standard anyone?

The truth is that Christianity is not tolerant' at all. There is no commandment in the ten commandments saying Thou shalt submit to other gods. In fact it says in the bible:

You shall have NO OTHER GODS but me. (Exodus 20:3)

Jesus himself said, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, NO ONE may come to the father EXCEPT through me. (John 14:6)

And again, it is written For God is one, also there is one Mediator of God and of men, the Man Christ Jesus. (1Timothy 2:5)

By the definition of what the world calls tolerance, Jesus was not a tolerant teacher, neither is Christianity, who preaches that there is only one way to God, and that all other religions are false.
Let the world call us intolerant; let them slander us on the news, and burn the images of our pastors and teachers in effigy for taking a stand. Let them insult you, berate you and threaten you, for again it is written:
He that is in you is greater than he that is in the world. (1 John 4:4)

Any Christian preacher or teacher that says that Chrisitanity is tolerant better make sure they know what they are talking about. It's one thing to be tolerant of sinners, since we all have been sinners (Romans 3:23). But when Christian teachers say that we accept Allah as either another God or substitutes him for our God, they fall under the words Paul once wrote in Galatians:

"But even if we, or an angel out of Heaven, should preach a gospel to you beside the gospel we preached to you, let him be accursed." (Gal 1:8)

So I write this with the conviction of the Holy spirit to be sober and wise. There is a point to where we as believers should submit and turn the other cheek, but there will come a time when we must make a stand for our faith, even if it means losing our jobs, our friends and family, maybe even our lives. Be ready, be prayerful and be looking up for our redeemer.

Grace to you.
