Why Jesus could not run for office
Judging by the standards our political leaders are held to today Jesus could not have run for public office. If guilt by association was a crime then I am afraid our Lord was done for before his campaign could get off the ground. Possible problems for our Lord Jesus could be:
1. Association with known fraudster Judas Iscariot
2. Photographed in the company of harlots (what could he have been thinking?)
3. Preaching sermons that threatened the Roman Governmental structures
4. Being seen in the company of lepers and the outcasts of society
5. Associated with former prisoner John the Baptist
6. Healing people on the Sabbath day
7. Being subject to lawsuits when he chased traders from the temple
8. Criticicsing the religious scholars of the day who had strong political connections
8. Claiming to be the Son of GOD
I am sure there are many more. I am glad though that while he could not run for political office he was appointed King of the Universe.
