Jesus talks about John

Today I have a simple little thought to share with you. At the end of this post I am going too ask you a question and I want you too answer it seriously and honestly.
And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 8But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. 9But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. 10For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 11Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

The above is taken from Matthew 11:7-11. Jesus had just finished commanding his disciples and departed to teach and preach in their cities. John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, so he sent two of his disciples to ask if He is the one that should come or do we look for another.

Jesus did not answer them with a yes or no, instead He said unto them Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. ~ Matthew 11:4-6.

There is a lesson itself in verses 4 - 6, but for today I am simply using that text to set up what is on my heart about Matthew 11: 7-11.

John's disciples had left. Jesus then began to talk to the crowd about John. That is in verses 7-15, go back up and read it again.

Jesus asked what they went too the wilderness too see. A reed shaken with the wind, a man clothed in soft raiment. Then He stopped and made this statement "behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses." HE then asked again what went ye out for to see. A profit? I say unto you, and more than a prophet. Jesus said John was more than a prophet. He said this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.
What a great testimony our Lord gives of John the Baptist. Too me Jesus is saying "John was my forerunner. He was sent too prepare the way for me. Of all that are born of a woman (that means everyone man, woman, boy or girl) there is no one greater than John the Baptist, except the least in the kingdom of heaven." In other words he said there was none greater on Earth.

Now as I read through this scripture I am left with this question and this will be how I will close today's post: If Jesus was to describe "you" to the crowd what would he say of you?

God Bless You!
