Hell is a Godless Place

Wow. Hell, according to the Bible, certainly sounds like a hopeless and enormous pit of eternal doom. Today's world has painted hell as a place of torment where the devil runs the show. But, I have to disagree with what the world wants us to believe. Yes, I believe there is a hell. Yes, I believe it is a place of eternal damnation. Yes, I believe that those who reject Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, will end up in hell. I mean, where else is there for the rejecter's to go? If they reject Jesus Christ they are rejecting Heaven, since Jesus lives in Heaven. And there is no other place to go. Heaven or hell. That is the choice. No in-between. Holiness or unholiness. Good or evil. Saved or unsaved. Period. Then you have the Lake of Fire. This is the ultimate and final resting place for all who reject the plan of salvation. According to the Bible this is not the devil running the show. Since, he himself, is tossed into the Lake of Fire. After all that is said and done, I believe hell is a place of torment and hopelessness and just plain painful place to be. Not because the devil and his demons and angels inhabit hell, but because God is not in hell. God is goodness and goodness is an all inclusive word. Love is good. Peace is good. Beauty is good. Sanity is good. Light is good. Joy is good. Happiness is good. Hope is good. Well, you get the picture. Now on the flip side. Hate is not good. Anxiety is not good. Insanity is not good. Sadness is not good. Again, you get the picture. Take away all that is good and you are certainly left with hell. That is what makes hell .. hell. The absence of Godliness or goodness. To lose all sense of hope, sanity, painlessness, and on and on and on. It is not the devil that makes hell such a scary and despicable and painful place to be .. It is the absence of God.

I couldn't agree with you more. i was always confused when i was young and saw pictures of hell and there was the fire and all that stuff but when i saw a demon tormenting a chained soul, that didn't seem right. this guy must have chosen hell over heaven, the world over God... but the demon looked happy. i always thought "why is the Devil and all his minions happy in this picture, they are the worst of everyone". i agree that no one is happy in hell. it is a place of darkness where all of God's light can not go. These souls tried to destroy other souls and that is something that can not be allowed in God's kingdom.

I agree! When Jesus Christ died on the cross He did not go to heaven (because how would that pay for our sins?) so He had to go somewhere. I don't imagine that He sat down for a coffee with Satan in the 'fiery pit' either. . . as he 'roams the earth' [bible]Job 1:6-7[/bible]. However, if Christ did not go to heaven, then where did He go? He went to hell, because like you said
And there is no other place to go. Heaven or hell. That is the choice.
. So He had to be in hell. Hell for Jesus Christ, as for any His brothers and sisters ~ Believers, is the absence of God. Of course if you think about it, three days of hell for Christ is like an eternity for us. . . as He is part of the Holy Trinity. That was the first and only time He had ever been separated from the Heavenly Father. We do that to ourselves daily as we commit sins, whether small or great. This is just how I see hell, a permanent separation from God the Father. How lonely and scary that must feel.

Welcome to CB by the way!! I can't wait to get to know you more.

I think an interesting scripture that was shown to me, that you to might like, is found in 1 peter 3:18-19 and 1 peter 4: 6. It is very intersting. the KJV says "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but quickened by the Spirit: By which alsohe went and preached unto the spirits in prison;... For for this cause wast the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit."

It seems that for the three days between death and the Resurection Christ was teaching souls that were "disobedient" (1 peter 3:20). What a fair and God like thing to do, still preach to those are dead. After all think of all the billions of people that have been born, lived, and died without even hearing of Jesus?

Interesting insights. I've always had a problem with the portayal of Satan as an guy with horns and a pitchfork. Satan disguises himself as an angel of light, and as the passage in Job says, he's not down in Hell, he's here, roaming to and fro on the Earth, attempting to deceive and devour.
