Hi! I have a 6 year old girl and a 8 year old boy. She loves anything barbie, my little pony and carebears and he loves bionicles and hot wheels but that's pretty standard. But the biggest thing they are both into at the moment is GeoMag and Msgnetics and I have to admit I have heaps of fun playing with them too. Just in case you don't know what they are. They're a magnetic building system and they encourage kids to get creative. Hope this helps.
God Bless
Joanne

I have the same problem with my nephews and neices. I have found quirky gift are fantastic. I like to send all sorts of unusual things like small musical instruments from other countries, foreign crafts, etc. I also look for unusual things for them to make, kits, stuff like that.
Also there are a few aid organisations who allow you to provide something of need in a third world country in someone's name, and then give you a card with a description of the gift in it for the intended person. I LOVE this as it helps people to understand that in our over selfish society there are other things than ME ME ME ME.
I'm constantly on the lookout for unusual gifts for people. I once gave a first edition of a favourite book to someone when I found it in an old book store. It wasn't all that rare and didn't cost all that much but I know it was a much enjoyed gift once I explained the significance of it to the person.
Sometimes I press flowers for my wife, and make them into a little collage and frame it. Costs little but time, effort and creativity and thought, but it means much to her.
QUIRKY! That's the way to go (in my book, anyhow) with those who have everything.

Wow.
When I was younger..
I used to love like banana bread
and creative candy fixtures that I could eat but they
looked cute!
My Grandmother, for my birthday, used to make me
banana bread and she'd get me a big stuff animal.
and i'd be so happy.
but that was just me.
haha.
Seems like times changed
and little kids like all these extravagant gifts on commercials!
May God be with you always,
In Christ,
Char
