When I reach for you, sometimes you are all that I have. I misunderstand the ways of Christ, and so I follow you. I follow your paths. I grab hold of everything I've ever known, captured, and held as my own. And I sit down and wait patiently for you to disappear. But you dont. You wont. You never will. The natural thing about it is, you are a part of every persons life. Some deny you, but you cant be denied. You were the reason why Christ was crucified. You are the sin...the evil in our lives. The evil that no...we can not deny. Even if we tried. We can ignore it and pretend it never happens. But thats what it wants us to do. To pretend its not there, its not anywhere...expecially not in you. Ha ha...that would be a joke right? Or is the joke your pride?

AS you have rightly pointed out at some point of time we are indeed slaves to evil and sin.It holds us captive and makes us do things we dont want to do.But most of the times it gives us an illusion of pleasure and captures us into its power.And we land up sinning but we always realise in the end that those pleasures are temporary and passing away.

Only way to be free of this slavery is JESUS CHRIST.Our own strength will fail us.Only He can help us out in His never ending love and mercy.

As long as we are in this flesh house we will have a battle going on between the desires of our flesh and our spirit man. The stronger one will win the war even if, in times of weakness, he loses a battle once in a while. Which one will be stronger is determined by which one we feed the most. Continuously feeding the spirit man with food from above will enable him to overcome the desires of the flesh. Continuous exposure to those things which excite the desires of the flesh will strengthen those desires and cause submission to them. It's our choice . . . God has given us everything we need to fight the good fight. Does His spirit not live within us? He has overcome. However, He will not violate our freedom to choose for ourselves.

We are a slave to the one we choose to serve.
