The Freed Prisoner
March 10, 2007
I am in a prison
This body of mine
I want to get out
But it takes so much time
It's like fighting a battle
A war hard to win
Am I a P.O.W.?
Locked behind bars of sin?
I long to repair the damage
And serve Him, my king
For healing and restoration
I pray He will bring
He comes to my rescue
I have only to ask
He provides my escape
Gives me strength for each task
It's a daily decision
To glorify Him
Do I choose to rebuild
Or cause ruin again?
He's there right beside me
He gives me the power
To break off these chains
Level up and not cower
I am not an elephant
Tied to a stake
But I am a rabbit
Who's chasing a snake!
I'll take the next step
On this journey of mine
Renew my commitment
And there I will find
I'm no longer a prisoner
No longer in chains
To the strength of my Jesus
I'm passing the reins
Galatians 5:16-18, 22-25
So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
