Real Life Arguements - Conversations with my Father

We have all had arguments with spouses, children, family, friends, co-workers and people we just don't like. I had an argument with my husband recently and decided to record my conversation with the Lord right after the argument with my husband.

ME: Lord I am so anger, why does he have to be like this, what am I suppose to do? I don't want to do anything, he needs to be doing some serious thinking. Why? Why? Why?

GOD: What is your responsiblity?

ME: My responsiblity? No, no, no it's not about me remember?

GOD: That is not what I meant and you know it, what is your responsibility?

ME: I don't know, okay so I do know but I don't want to know, beside how do I love with a BUT, how do I get him to respond and not to react, I know the situation needs love but what about me, oh yea now it is not about me.

GOD: Your learning, s-l-o-w-l-y

GOD: Well

ME: Well, what?

GOD: Your responsiblity, what is it?

ME: Ummm love him, ummm figure out what I am contributing to the problem, the solution, respond not react to what he is experiencing.

GOD: And... .

ME: And... . don't you think that is enough, what do you want him to do? Oh yea, were back to just discussing me

SILENCE

ME:Father, I am so sorry, I truly do not mean to twist your words for my convenience, I do love my husband and I know that I should be obedient to your word. It is hard to think and do just my part and not worry or think about what he should do. I need you Father, here, to guide me, I can not do this without you. I reacted to him and he did not even know what I was reacting to - he just saw senseless anger. I need the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, I need you to direct my words less I stick my foot in my mouth, my responsiblity is not to make him feel worse. I give thanks that you open my eyes spiritually to all that I do, my unintentional sin and the grace and mercy that you bestow upon me as I learn. Thank you Lord, thank you - you are AWESOME. - AMEN

GOD: Bless you child

ME: You know you could talk to him too!

SILENCE:

ME: Just kidding, love you Lord

My dear brothers, take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry - James 1:19

freemansfox,

Your post reminds me of so many times when I have had the wrong focus in my life. When I should be focusing on God, I instead focus on myself. When I should be concentrating on my duties, I look to God to make it easy for me. I'm so grateful for God's infinite patience!
