Can I Get A Witness?
Revelation 11, how many of you read this and then look around for these signs? Whenever I read the book of Revelation, I start to be more aware of my surroundings and what is going on. So let us dive into Revelation 11 today and see what we can be on the watch for.
So, John is supposed to measure the temple of God and the altar, and count the people worshiping there. We are already getting a picture of what we will be doing in heaven. We will be worshiping God at the altar in His temple. However, there will be people who will not be there. The Spirit says that the yard outside the temple is where those who are not God's people will trample on God's holy city for three and one half years.
Then God will also have two witnesses who will be given power by God to prophesy for...three and one half years. I do not know that I have ever noticed this before. It kind of is hidden since John says forty-two months and then one thousand two hundred sixty days. So, it is possible that these two events will happen at the same time. Once again, I catch myself looking for these things around me. I mean, if there were two witnesses prophesying, I think the world would know about it.
These two witnesses have been in heaven with God. It sounds like they have some mighty power. Yet, I sense that they only have power that God gives them. Also, they can only do what God allows them to do. They will not be harmed, if anyone tries to hurt them they will die.
Wait a minute; I thought John said nobody could hurt the two witnesses. Here it says the beast will defeat them and kill them. What happened to God's protection? The two witnesses will not be buried either? They will lie in the street of Egypt for three and one-half days. I would imagine that CNN would broadcast a video of the two dead bodies continually for three and one-half days.
Then this saddens me, the people will rejoice and be happy because they are dead. They will even make a holiday for it. They will celebrate the death of these two because they brought judgment to their evil ways. That is the world's evil twisted way of thinking. The world wants to be able to do whatever they want. They do not want to be right with God, which would mean being obedient to someone other than himself or herself. The world's way of thinking is to watch out for number one...their self.
OH, but wait! God breaths life back into the witnesses after three and one-half days. It is another resurrection, only of the two witnesses and right in front of the eyes of the enemies of these two. I would imagine these people would not be able to get their lower jaw shut for quite a while after seeing these two come back to life and then being called from heaven by God to come back to Him. And they do!
In the same hour these people are standing there watching as the two witnesses go up into heaven on a cloud, there is a great earthquake that will kill seven thousand people. Then the ones that are still alive, their jaws will hit the ground. They will be very afraid then. Then they will give glory to God it says. Oh sure, now you see God is real. Some people do not believe until they see the amazing things God will do. Will it be in time? If it is God's will they be saved, yes. I am just thankful I do not have to be one of those people.
HALLELUJAH! Blow your trumpet seventh angel. This is the day we have been waiting for, God will rule the world. Right now Satan rules most of it. You can see his hand in it. Yet we can see God's hand in our lives if we are Christians.
I look for this reward spoken of in verse 18. It is for God's servants the prophets and God's holy people, all who respect God. At this same time though, God will be destroying those who are opposed to Him.
God's agreement with His people is held in the Ark in the temple in heaven. "Then there were flashes of lightning, noises, thunder, an earthquake, and a great hailstorm." Oh, we've seen those before.  I do not think this is going to be like any storm we have ever seen before. There will be flashes of lightning so bright that you will wish you had a welders shield. The thunder will be deafening. You will not be able to stand when the earthquake hits. As for the hailstorm, the hail will beat anything in the Guinness book of world records. That is just my thoughts.
Prayer: Father God, we thank You that some day we will see the end of unrighteousness. We will see the end of all evil. We will see the end of death. And most of all, we will see You. We thank You for Your glorious plan for Your people. We know you love us and that You will be victorious over evil. We watch and wait for our Savior to return once again for His people, his bride the church. In the mean time, we serve You Lord and do Your will. Guide us with Your perfect love. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
