Seven Cups Of God’s Anger

Seven Cups Of God’s Anger This is not a recipe from the Food Network.

When I read about how the human population will be angry at God for being angry at them, it echoes in my head of words people say even today, I’m mad at God!” People tend to get mad at God because of certain circumstances in their lives. Myself, I look at all the sin I have ever committed and think, I deserve punishment worse than this for all the sin I have committed.” Yet because our God is a gracious God, there will be those who will turn to him instead of away from him.

Let’s read Revelation 16 to find out about the seven terrible plagues that will be poured out on the earth.

Revelation 16:1–2 (NCV)
The Bowls of God's Anger
1 Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, "Go and pour out the seven bowls of God's anger on the earth."
2 The first angel left and poured out his bowl on the land. Then ugly and painful sores came upon all those who had the mark of the beast and who worshiped his idol.

When I read of the ugly and painful sores I think of Job and his boils. Remember when Satan asked God to do this to Job. It says nothing about God asking anyone if he can do this to the people with the mark of the beast. That proves God is the head of all. Those people will have wished they never took the mark of the beast.

Revelation 16:3 (NCV)
3 The second angel poured out his bowl on the sea, and it became blood like that of a dead man, and every living thing in the sea died.

EVERY living thing in the sea died when it was turned to blood. I can just imagine the stench of dead fish everywhere. YUCK!

Revelation 16:4–7 (NCV)
4 The third angel poured out his bowl on the rivers and the springs of water, and they became blood. 5 Then I heard the angel of the waters saying:
"Holy One, you are the One who is and who was.
You are right to decide to punish these evil people.
6 They have poured out the blood of your holy people and your prophets.
So now you have given them blood to drink as they deserve
." 7 And I heard a voice coming from the altar saying:
"Yes, Lord God Almighty,
the way you punish evil people is right and fair."

God has the right to judge and punish the people with the mark of the beast. He will bring judgment to them for the death of His holy people and the prophets. God is right and fair in His judgment too. Of course like I said in the beginning, there will be people who will think He is not fair.

Revelation 16:8–9 (NCV)
8 The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and he was given power to burn the people with fire. 9 They were burned by the great heat, and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these disasters. But the people refused to change their hearts and lives and give glory to God.

I don’t know about you, but do these people seem pretty hard headed to you? What will it take to get their attention? It just came to me. These people will believe in the beasts’ power as we believe in our God’s power. They will hold out to the death most likely in hope of their beast winning for them. This may be why they do not change their hearts or simply because they belong to the beast and are afraid to change sides. Also, once they have the mark of the beast, there may be no turning back.

Revelation 16:10–11 (NCV)
10 The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and darkness covered its kingdom. People gnawed their tongues because of the pain. 11 They also cursed the God of heaven because of their pain and the sores they had, but they refused to change their hearts and turn away from the evil things they did.

Man, what stubborn people! I think any one of these troubles sent by God would be enough to change my mind. I mean look at this anger poured out on the people, it was so painful they gnawed their tongues! People, change your hearts!

Revelation 16:12–14 (NCV)
12 The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates so that the water in the river was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east to come. 13 Then I saw three evil spirits that looked like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 These evil spirits are the spirits of demons, which have power to do miracles. They go out to the kings of the whole world to gather them together for the battle on the great day of God Almighty.

The people with the mark of the beast will once again be given a sign of false hope. They will perform their little miracles to show the people hope. The people will believe and continue to serve the beast. They will even battle for him.

Revelation 16:15–16 (NCV)
15 "Listen! I will come as a thief comes! Blessed are those who stay awake and keep their clothes on so that they will not walk around naked and have people see their shame."
16 Then the evil spirits gathered the kings together to the place that is called Armageddon in the Hebrew language.

I never thought of this until now. When these times come, John says to keep our clothes on and stay awake. If we do that, we will be blessed. Nobody knows the time or day when Christ will return for His bride. That doesn’t mean we stop sleeping and keep our clothes on now until He comes. I believe we will know when He returns. He is not going to leave His bride out of the loop. We will know our King and we will not fall for the false prophets. We need to have the Holy Spirit in us to know the truth. Those with the mark of the beast will not know the truth and will not change their hearts.

When I first read this I took it literally about not being naked. I thought maybe I should wear my clothes to bed. Yet I do not believe we are talking about the same kind of naked. Naked to me in the Bible means exposed sin. When Christ returns for His bride I believe their will be no sin in her. She will be without sin. She will be awake and ready for the return of her Groom. She will be clothed with righteousness. She will have plenty of oil in her lamp and be ready.

Revelation 16:17–21 (NCV)
17 The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air. Then a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne, saying, "It is finished!" 18 Then there were flashes of lightning, noises, thunder, and a big earthquake—the worst earthquake that has ever happened since people have been on earth. 19 The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations were destroyed. And God remembered the sins of Babylon the Great, so he gave that city the cup filled with the wine of his terrible anger. 20 Then every island ran away, and mountains disappeared. 21 Giant hailstones, each weighing about a hundred pounds, fell from the sky upon people. People cursed God for the disaster of the hail, because this disaster was so terrible.

It is finished!” Do you think the people will believe then? It will be too late then. This final bowl of God’s anger will be like no other storm. The earthquake will split the great city into three parts. The islands ran away and the mountains disappeared. I live in Montana, I think if our mountains disappeared I would notice. Also there will be hail stones weighing about a hundred pounds. The hail will fall on the people and I would guess kill them. I mean, a hundred pound hail stone falling on you would most likely kill you.

Even after these troubles, the people cursed God for them. Instead of seeing why God was bringing His judgment on them, they refused to see it and blamed Him instead of themselves and their evil ways.

Prayer: Father God, I pray that we as Your bride for Christ will be ready when that day comes. Help us to be so in tuned with the Holy Spirit that we will not fall for the false teachers or the beast. We want to be the holy spotless bride of Christ. We do not want to serve any other god than You Lord. Continue to prepare us for that day Lord. Change our hearts and lives to be what You have called us to be. Let nothing stop us from serving You. Deliver us from all unrighteousness. Make us the spotless bride You have called us to be. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
