The Seven Thunders Spoke!

Revelation 10, the angel and the small scroll to declare the end.

Revelation 10:1-4 (NCV)
The Angel and the Small Scroll
1 Then I saw another powerful angel coming down from heaven dressed in a cloud with a rainbow over his head. His face was like the sun, and his legs were like pillars of fire. 2 The angel was holding a small scroll open in his hand. He put his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land. 3 Then he shouted loudly like the roaring of a lion. And when he shouted, the voices of seven thunders spoke. 4 When the seven thunders spoke, I started to write. But I heard a voice from heaven say, "Keep hidden what the seven thunders said, and do not write them down."

Oh, come on John, tell us. What did the seven thunders say? Our lives are laid out before us. God knows the plan he has for us. Yet he doesn't tell us always word for word what our life is going to be like. It would be like giving you a test with the answers already there. Why take the test? Instead we learn from our mistake and failures along with out successes. So when John says he cannot tell about the seven thunders, I trust God we are not suppose to know...yet.

Revelation 10:5-7 (NCV)
5 Then the angel I saw standing on the sea and on the land raised his right hand to heaven, 6 and he made a promise by the power of the One who lives forever and ever. He is the One who made the skies and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it. The angel promised, "There will be no more waiting! 7 In the days when the seventh angel is ready to blow his trumpet, God's secret will be finished. This secret is the Good News God told to his servants, the prophets."

The end will finally be here. The time we are all waiting for, God's judgment. To us Christians that means the secret of the Good News will finally come to pass and we will be with our Father in heaven. Some day...

To those who do not know Jesus it will be the worst day of their life. I mean, you think you have a rough life now...

Revelation 10:8-11 (NCV)
8 Then I heard the same voice from heaven again, saying to me: "Go and take the open scroll that is in the hand of the angel that is standing on the sea and on the land."
9 So I went to the angel and told him to give me the small scroll. And he said to me, "Take the scroll and eat it. It will be sour in your stomach, but in your mouth it will be sweet as honey." 10 So I took the small scroll from the angel's hand and ate it. In my mouth it tasted sweet as honey, but after I ate it, it was sour in my stomach. 11 Then I was told, "You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, languages, and kings."

What does this mean? I know sometimes I eat honey and it can give me heartburn later. However, Revelation is not talking about the natural. I think, now this is just my opinion, that when we read and devour God's word it is sweet to us as we read it. Yet once it gets into our life, our body, the flesh fights against it. It tries to make you sick so you will not feed it the Word anymore, because the flesh wants to rule our lives. If we are ruled by Christ, you know our flesh is going to suffer. Our flesh will not get fed what it wants anymore. Instead our spirit is being fed and unless we feed our spirit daily, it will never become stronger than the flesh and the flesh will rule our lives instead of out spirit. Does that make sense?

I pray this chapter, even though it is short, has encouraged some to open their Bible daily. The only way we can be ready for Christ return, is to feed our spirit and get it ready for that day.

Prayer: Father God, we know that some day You will send Your Son back to earth to bring His bride back to the Father's house. Help us to continually be in Your Word seeking the way Lord. Seeking who we need to be. Seeking the vision our Heavenly Father has for us. Then stepping out and doing His will. Bring us boldly into that day and help us to stand strong in our faith in the Good News. Our eyes are on heaven waiting for our Groom. We love You Lord and we honor You with our lives. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
