We Will Overcome, By The Blood Of The Lamb
Revelation 12...Some of the book of Revelation I do not get, and chapter 12 is one of them. So please humor me and if I am wrong correct me so others will know the truth.
In my New Century Study Bible I have underlined time specific Scriptures like verse 6. I forgot to do that in my previous blogs of Revelation, but I have included that here. I'm not sure why, but I guess when I get to the time of Christ coming back, I want to know how long these things will go on before we see our final victory.
OK, this is where I may be wrong, but doesn't this woman sound like Mary and the child the dragon, Satan wants to kill Jesus? I mean, look at verse five. Does that not sound like our Savior?
What I found interesting was that this all took place in heaven. This battle was in heaven. The dragon Satan was in heaven. He wasn't victorious, but he was there. Let's read on.
OH! That explains life on earth. We live in Satan's world. We are foreigners in this world. We do not belong here and soon we will get to go back to our home, heaven. This time, Satan will not be there fighting with Michael or God. Christ will have the final victory over Satan and he will be defeated forever.
Your accuser, Satan, will be thrown down into hell where he belongs. God doesn't accuse us or remember our repented sin, Satan does. When Jesus comes back though, there will be no accuse or remembering our past sins. We are forgiven! It is final!
I had a talk with my son yesterday. He was battling with the Accuser over something he did in the past. God has forgiven him because he has repented of it, but Satan likes to bring things back up from the pit of hell to torment us with. God doesn't remind us of past sins...unless we haven't repented of them. The Enemy wants to weaken us by making us feel those past sins are still weighing us down and are not forgiven. He may even try to convince you that they are way to big for God to forgive. Our God is a mighty God. No sin is too big for Him. We need to accept that we have been forgiven and go on with our Christian walk and not be weakened by the Accuser.
As I got up this morning a song came to my mind, well a part of a song. It was one we sang in church this past Sunday. "We will overcome, by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony..." Just that one verse over and over is stuck in my head. It is a good thing to have stuck in your head though, can I hear a big AMEN!?
This is why we battle in this life. Satan is angry that he did not get to defeat Jesus. So since he cannot get at Jesus, he will try to defeat His brothers and sisters. Looking at verse 17 again I see we are Mary's other children. I never thought of it that way. I know in the Catholic church we always called her Mother Mary. I guess as Christian and as son's and daughters of God, Mary would be our Spiritual Mother. It makes sense. We are Christ brothers and sisters.
Then the dragon stood on the seashore. I don't ever want to go to the sea shore again. I've only been to the west coast once when I was in my teens...a long, long, time ago. I seriously do not think this means anything about avoiding the beach. Yet I am sure Satan is thinking about how to defeat us, but our Father in heaven is much wiser and more powerful that the Dragon. Can I hear a big AMEN brothers and sisters?
Sorry for my sounding like an evangelist, I just get excited when I read about the victory we will have over Satan.
Prayer: Father God, I thank You that Christ will defeat the Accuser of our people. Lord, be with those today who are being accused of sins that have been forgiven already. Help them not to fall into the trap of reliving those past sins and the feelings of guilt and shame for them all over again. They have been forgiven and it is FINAL! Ther4e is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, Your Word says. The only condemnation is from Satan himself, the Accuser. Block these accusations Lord and bring restoration to those who have fallen from their forgiven status with You because of the Accuser. I thank You for the victory we have in Jesus over death. I thank You that some day we will kneel at Your feet and worship you wholly and we will not be accused any more. We will be righteous and wear robes of white because of that righteousness we have through our Savior Jesus Christ. Continue to build us up to be strong against the Enemy's evil plans to destroy us. We know that Your will is that none should be lost, let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Amen.
