Who or what are you looking for when you vote for office?

In a voters pole this past election, the main reasons for people to vote were: The economy, Health Care, and Terrorism.
It struck me how much the nation is actually trying to vote for a 'saviour', whether we realize it or not.

We read in the Word that our King, the King of Kings, will provide for us. We see the birds of the air provided for, and the flowers of the field clothed, how much more are we worth to Him?
We know that he is our healer ultimately, however he choses to do it. Our God is the Great Physician.
We also are told not to worry for tomorrow, since tomorrow has enough worries of its own. No man can add a single day to his life by worry.

Yet people are so concerned with their stocks and bonds, their savings accounts, their jobs, and ultimately their life-styles. Many have seen, and more will see, a drastic change taking place in the 'have's' and 'have-nots' in coming days.
We tend be caught up in wants, confusing them with needs, even with such clear instruction from our Lord.
We tend to put our trust Doctors and anti-biotics, and then worry about how to pay for them.
We worry about terrorist attacks. The list goes on.

I am not a pacifist, nor do I give up and shut my eyes and hope for the best.
I fully realize that these are real concerns, and we should address them.
I have lost over half of my income and find myself and my family below the official poverty line.
I am dealing with unexplained pain in my body that has all but immobilized me.
I lost my own mother to terrorists in South Africa 20 yrs ago, where my parents were missionaries. I KNOW what can happen in this world.

As I consider our position as Kingdom children however, it occurs to me that we should not be concerned with voting in a 'saviour' so to speak. We need to be concerned with the same issues that God is concerned with. Unborn babies being slaughtered daily for one. They are a precious gift, conceived in the mind of God the Father Himself, and such a privilege for us to raise and train up.
The institute of marriage is sacred to God, and a perfect illustration of his relationship with us. Homosexuality is more than perversion to God, it is abomination to Him, according to His Word. The world is allowing His perfect institution to become that abomination.

We need to not sit by and vote for someone we think might be able to 'save' our bank accounts, our jobs, our health, or our natural safety. We need, as Christians, to vote for whomever is the closest to God's principles, and the things HE holds as important. We do not worry about the same things that the world around us does. We have a peace that goes beyond understanding, and serve the King of Kings above all.
We are in this world, and subject to it in the natural, but not PART of it. We are to do our part, be patriotic, obey the laws of the land (where they do not conflict with the laws of God) but we also have to keep in mind who's Kingdom we are actually a PART of.

Vote according to God's heart and desires, and realize that we already HAVE a saviour. A saviour far above any man or woman we could vote into office, no matter what color, creed, gender, or how 'charismatic' they seem to be. We already have a saviour. A saviour who truly lived for us, died for us, arose from the grave for us, ascended for us, and is preparing a place for us.
No congress, court, or president can possibly compare.

Let us at all times keep in mind who He is, who we are, and live by His instructions.

I agree with all you have said.

So many people are looking at a man and government to solve their problems and fix this country. We have a president that is charismatic and some believe a good speaker. I do not find his speeches at all inspiring.

I was going to say more, but I think you have said it very well.

I also agree with you.

Our Sunday School class as started praying that the heart of our President and the other leaders in Washington would be turned from the condition they are in to something more holy and rightous.

Only with a fear of the Lord will we have true success in this world.
