In the Calm of Reflection, Life is Really Good

In the Calm of Reflection, Life is Really Good

It was the end of a longer day at work.
Supper was whatever you can heat up”.
My wife was worn thin with preparation for the AWANA club startup.
My son, my right arm, was off to camp, so garbage needed to be done.
My oldest was still not done with school work, but wanted to go to a friend's overnight.
And the kitchen sink was leaking again, a lot.

In the midst of life we get to make some choices.
As I lay with my head under the sink water dripping in my face,
I realized that it was a pretty good day.

Work is a good thing to have too much of in these economic times.
Food was warmed, but it is still plentiful in our home and garden.
My wife is an amazing woman who loves the Lord and me.
My son is beginning to show signs of being quite the young man.
My daughter has made good choices in her friends, which is comforting.
And the ole’ place we now call home allows me to stretch my talents in home maintenance”.

Father, never let me see the loss in a day, only the gain of the blessings poured out from overflowing storehouses.
You are a good and loving God. Amen

God blesses even in the smallest things. Nice blog and good reminder that He is where we look for Him.

Amen. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Blessings positive and negative all add up for our good.
Because we love Him who has called us for His purpose.

I have come to view each day as a blessing from God and within each day there are blessings tucked everywhere. May God help us to see them every day!

Blessings!

When it all comes down to it, don't the leaky faucets and clogged drains of life really let us know how alive we are!

Thank you for the refresher. Good to hear from you.

PapaBear,
Great reminder of the simple things in life being what's really important in life. I was reading an old blog of my own and made it a featured blog because of the joy the simple memories brought me -- two years ago when I wrote it, and then again just now. My joy was in the simple things of life with my family: cheese pizza, card games and laughter.

Who cares if dinner is warmed up leftovers? And these days, any job is worth being grateful for.

This reminds me of a country song I really like. I talks about the phone ringing, the kids screaming, someone's at the door, the washing machine is breaking down again and things like this, but the chorus is the man singing asking God for just another day in paradise...
