The Ragamuffin Gospel - Brennan Manning

I am currently reading "The Ragamuffin Gospel" by Brennan Manning. I thought I'd share a few things that hit me as I read through. I hope that others who have taken time to enjoy it wil share their own thoughts as well.

"CBD":
We live in a world that is constantly assigning values to people by using measurable standards. Whether it's students receiving academic grades for scholastic ability or athletes being ranked for physical talent, doctors being rated for best medical care or salespeople being rewarded for most sales, there is no way around the pressures of living in society today with its high, sometimes unattainable, goals. In his timeless book The Ragamuffin Gospel, bestselling author Brennan Manning points the way toward freedom for Christians who are tired of never measuring up, teaching them the full grace of God, who knows nothing of standards.

Forwards/Testimony
The forwards by Micheal W. Smith and Ben Pearson and the testimony by Rich Mullins were great. I met Rich after a concert. It was very informal. It was just a couple of weeks before he died. He was as real as his music. As I read his entry I could hear the sound of his voice and feel his love for the Lord.

Chapter 1
As Brennan began to talk about the ragamuffin, my heart sank and I could feel someone looking at me like I see myself when I'm honest before the Lord. I knew that I would have to keep on task to finish, I just needed to. Unconditional daily Grace for an everyday ragamuffin man, that is the love I need to be reminded of.
