First let me say that these are excellent questions which I am pondering right now. Truthfully, I do not like the answers to some of them but if we never dare to ask them of ourselves, we will never grow in Christ.
Secondly, I would like to say that I am very glad our roads crossed here a few years back, Hark. You have been a blessing to me and to others as well.
Blessings!

Well actually, he is at Hebrew class at the moment. He's taking two Hebrew classes at two different locations. One on Saturday afternoon and one on Sunday mornings. He had to miss the one yesterday due to having to work. I would be confused by all of this but apparently he is not, LOL! I think the possibility of him taking it over at the college next fall is pretty strong. He tried it last fall but with work and of course being married to a trouble maker like myself , he felt it was at too fast of a pace so he decided to get a good foundation laid at a bit slower pace before trying it at the college level once again.
Blessings and give my best of your wife!

Good blog and good advise. "to shut up sometimes" is a practise that will very rarely cause anyone a problem. There is a saying that goes something like "Should you keep quiet and risk having people think you are dumb, or speak up and confirm their opinion?" - bibleguy64 |

It is so interesting how God works in His calling. He has the right place where, in His own way, pieces may be picked up and then uses them for good. He prepares a person for what he needs to know and what he can do in service to the Kingdom. Thanks for this blog, harkrider. I am thankful you shared this look into your life, travels and ministry. I know God will always bless you wherever you go as you allow the Holy Spirit to continue changing you and in turn your becoming more and more like Jesus. And, for allowing the Holy Spirit to put you into the paths of others for God's reasons. Live life in Christ to the fullest. Blessings! |

Confidence and assurance in what God says and promises is what I fine most wanting in the people I meant.
Thank you for the encouraging reply.
As with all of us it is a daily walk in the Spirit, let us all be willing to allow the Spirit to live in and through us each day to bring glory to God. |

Well, most of the time I am opposite of your first line. But, not always last to leave. Somewhere in the middle I suppose. God uses all kinds, and praise Him for that. I am not a beat around the bush person, and that rubs many the wrong way. But, it is GOD who works in us, so we do have much promise and hope. "walk in the Spirit", and "love and serve", Amen to that.
Enjoyed your thoughts. God Bless brother. |

Haha!
For years I was the first to arrive and the last to leave.
(Hum, the first lines aren't me but those I have meant along our walk.)
(second thought - they were me one time.)
It does take all kinds and I am beginning to enjoy (even love) that it does. Never boring and always room to grow and learn and serve.
Bless you bro. |

Wonderful presentation my brother. One which seriously hits home. Many of these questions arise in my spirit daily. One could wish sanctification was instantaneous however, we know it is a process. Will we ever become exactly like He is? Of course not, not while we are in these flesh and blood bodies. However, as long as we keep pressing onward we will slowly grow more and more in His likeness. One day, which is our hope, we will arrive never to come up short again in any way.
Praise God!
Blessings brother,

Amen!
Yes, I was wanting to express the daily sanctification of growing in the spirit, abiding in Christ, continuing in letting his love be shown in and through us to the world (daily life).
It's that love God and your neighbor statement from Jesus that keeps prompting me to reach out to Him more and more. (Okay, commandments.)
Than you for the great reply. |

Tch,
Let us not limit our faith - have hope; if we keep dying to our sinfulness because we keep reaching for His kingdom and righteousness, that race will come to a finish line where we are truly Christ like in this body. Just like Christ had a physical body and walked sinless, we now have the power through Christ's Spirit to be free of the bondage of all our sinful nature. Keep striving and Christ's love will perfect us. We must have faith in His promises. What ever we convince ourselves of being the truth, then we will walk by that faith or lack of - it is our choice of what we see as truth. God's truth and faith in God's truth will set us free "free indeed" in this life and the next. But only if we keep searching for righteousness and believing His truth - "I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me". Not just some things, but all things. Christ didn't come to conquer some sins, but all sin - not just to cover up our sins, but to conquer all our sins.
Blessings,
Mike |

Well spoken, brother!
Action always speaks louder than words... our Walk louder than our talk. -A few years back I penned a phrase for people like us... Christians, whom Christ reached deep into the darkness to save... Christians, whom He then made part of their calling a mission to go back into the edge of that same darkness to seek those who also yearn to be free. I called them Shadow Walkers... a name and a calling. -One I now proudly wear myself.
Nice to meet a fellow Shadow Walker!
God Bless!

HR, poignant point!
Some time ago I began to realize how important 'opinions' are to people, even christian people. This desire to have our own opinions and 'group' opinions seems to have grown like crazy. There has been such a rush on acquiring the 'right' opinions on every possible topic; the church indistinguishable from secular society in this.
Thinking that we have the right thinking about current topics really doesn't help anyone - it puffs up our self confidence and creates opportunities for 'discussion', but walking humbly with our God and 'keeping in step' with the Spirit is the abundant life. Living with the heart of God puts us in all the 'right' places.
Keep up the great walk and posts. |

Big Amen and Amen!
But, if you'd like to hear an opinion or two I have...
You are too right and I need add nothing further.

Harkrider,
Great question: "Do I belong or am I a drifter again?" How many times have I pondered that point... too many to count. It is so easy to walk away offended but the hard work is to stay and die to the personal feelings of offense that so often divides us. God has placed us all with intent in the body of Christ and in this fallen world to accomplish His will. We are to spread the Good News to those who have not heard it and to edify and love others. This can be a challenge when we are not spiritually mature. Your words of wisdom ring so true to me,
"Are we mature enough in the Spirit to shun crude remarks to overlook insults meant or unmeant and continue to love and serve the other as Christ served others. Confident enough to know we are forgiven and always forgiven in humility and love. Do we trust the power of God in the working of the Holy Spirit enough to shut up sometimes and witness with action or quietly with stillness."
Christ in all His righteous perfection was meek and humble. He was lowly and felt no need for self promotion because He knew who He was. His full focus was on doing the will of His Father. May we learn to put our own insecurities aside and learn to walk in this world as He walked, ready to forgive "in humility and love" and also be ready to do God's will.
Bless you for this blog. We are all challenged by it.

His full focus was on doing the will of His Father.
To learn what this means is to know what it means to walk in the power of the spirit with love.
I really enjoyed your comment on a couple levels, thank you.

Great Blog!!! I so enjoyed it, it does us all well to self examine ourselves and prune away that is not producing good fruit.
Thank you so much for a blog that has made me think and question and examine myself.

I believe this is one that I started to read, and found that I was so tired I could not see straight. I started reading the comments tonight, and decided I needed to look at this again.
Thank you.
The interesting aspect is that I have to deal with this at a small "bible study" I go to. Every person there is from a differing background, and the opportunity to fight arises every time. God has not made me a fighter like that. I find I can no longer remember scriptures with precision, or I would probably use them like club. I have not been called to do that; not really sure many of us have. Although I can see a definite for the apologists out there.
Anyway, thanks for speaking for the hearts of many of us.

The first part is often a problem I have, sleepy.
I have been on this site almost from the beginning, we have had a (wink) fight or two here also. I also study and teach sections and topics of scripture that are not will understood or received so I fully understand what you share here. And I have used scripture in such a way, more than I would want to admit.
Today, when I encounter a fellow believer in my travels I first do a lot of listening with prayer. It is comforting to know the Spirit carries a mightier sword than we ever could, I agree, let's let him do the wielding.
(I don't remember scripture with precision - either - why I have Bibles handy, everywhere)
God bless you. |
