Out of your comfort zone!
Today in church our pastor "shook" up the congregation. He said "OK now I'd like all of you to pick up your things and move to another set in the church." He also wanted us to sit by someone new that we didn't know. There are about 70 members in our church. But it seems like lately everyone talks with the same people. Myself included. We sat next to someone who had been going to our church for many years and we had never talked to them. Wow...that got me to thinking... if I can't be comfortable talking with someone in my "family" how would I ever be able to be a disciple for Christ? It really hit home to me. I need to venture out of my comfort zone. Tell more about my faith. First and foremost...I have 2 sisters and a brother who are not saved. My husband's family has many unsaved also. We have said many times before that we feel the Lord calling us into ministry. We know now that it needs to start here at home. We are so excited to share our faith with others, why is it so difficult to share it with our family members? I have been thinking about a verse that almost everyone knows, John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that who so ever believeth on him should not perish but have eternal life". Why wouldn't I want my sisters and brother to have that with me? So today I picked up the phone and invited my siblings over one at a time along with their spouses for supper. My husband and myself can just in casual conversation share our faith with them. Something that we have never done before. They know that we are saved. My parents are also. So there may be some resentment from my siblings because that is something that my parents and we share. It has brought us closer. Until next time!! God Bless.
