God Loves the Unlovely

She sat in the dimly lighted room in the middle of her rumpled bed, with pillows strewn in a corner. Her glances at the darkened doorway revealed the fear that was gripping her soul. Then her eyes darted toward the windows while she simultaneously breathed a sigh of relief. "Whew. I did shut those blinds!" And even though her body was still, she felt the devil's steady clip was so close behind her that she was impelled to stop. There was nowhere else to go.

She glanced down at her fingers that were intertwined on her lap and raised them to her lips. "Help," she emitted gently. "God? Jesus?" This was a first for her. "Jesus? I'm scared. I cannot go on like this. If there's a God, then show yourself. I'm tired of being afraid. I'm tired dancing between the raindrops. Help me!"

As she waited for an answer the tears began to stream down her cheeks, and her body convulsed as she sobbed. She raised her palms toward the ceiling and cried, "The devil has me God. I can't live this way anymore! I've had you on the back burner long enough! I know you want me and now, I want you!"

Suddenly a calm swept over her that was startling too, but in a different way. This time her surprise was one of being awestruck. Her hands dropped onto her lap and she knew, inherently knew, that a presence of goodness and peace had found it's way to her. She continued to sit, wrapping her arms around pajama-clad knees, lifting an appendage only once to swipe at her runny nose. She swayed back and forth, back and forth as she softly said, "Jesus. Jesus." Her head dipped slightly as she prayed.

The Lord was there, Yahweh Shammah, cradling this young woman in his arms, rocking her like a child, in the middle of that unkempt room!

How is it that "The Lord My Rock," Yahweh Tsuri, can be so gentle?

"Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth." Matthew 5:3-5

An important lesson is to never forget experiences like This. If once we've tasted of the comfort of the Holy Spirit, and later put it on the back burner again, we could, and should get into big trouble.
We should always be earnestly striving to grow in our walk with God. There can be no turning back. One turns back at his own peril.
We have been forgiven our sins. God warns, Go and sin no more, unless worse things come upon you. Naturally, every person fails, since only Jesus could succeed. But we must really, really struggle against our flesh.
Let us overcome our weaknesses.

Revelation 2:7...
He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.
