this is really freakin me out dude. we were talking about the exact same stuff in our class today at seminary, and we were talking abou that passage from Jeremiah! Ministry, like being a Christian (i guess they go hand in hand, huh?) is something we HAVE to do once we are called, even though there are so many out there who make fun of us. Just the other day, while i was at work, i was singing "Here I am to worship" by Michael W. Smith softly while i cleaned the store and this little kid, who is like 13 was like "you Christians are dumb. God isn't real, he's made up". and i felt crushed! it's so hard to hear stuff liek that when we have a relationship with the Lord, but witnessing is something we have to do, that we are required to do, and also it is a privilege that we GET to do. I love your blog, keep up the good work.

Press on folks! Remember that the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing (1 Cor. 1:18) and... the things of the spirit are foolishness to the natural man 1Cor. 2:14.
When being a witness, too many people forget these scriptures, they start preaching the cross first when even Gods word says it is foolishness to those who are perishing. Do not try to convert people, but witness to them instead, just share what you know and what you have experienced. The closer YOU get to God, the more you will have witnessed and the greater your testimony will be.
Paul told the Corinthians that he came to them with poor speech and was weak, afraid and trembling, he went on to share that it wasn't his words that made the difference, but the demonstration of Gods power and that the churches faith should not stand on the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. 1 Cor. 2:1-5
Don't show those who don't know Jesus how much wisdom you have, show them the power of God operating through you. Then they will WANT to hear what you have to say.
If people can be talked into their faith, they can be talked out as there will always be someone smarter who comes along. But, even if you can't explain some of the things of God, your experience of His power working in your life will always keep you standing firm.
I advanced from not wanting to pray in a meeting full of Christians to becoming a pastor, evangelist and motivational speaker; not from what I read and believed, but from what I read believed and experienced. The more I SAW the power of God in action, the easier it became to share those things and the more people wanted to hear what I had to say.

ahameboys - wow - that is kind of freaky that you were talking about that passage! I just sort of stumbled upon it randomly yesterday and decided to blog about it. Weird...
It does hurt to here people insult us for our faith - especially when it's a kid. You can disagree, but at least respect our beliefs.
Just keep in mind that Paul was one of those Christian 'haters' prior to his conversion. There's always hope!

Jimmyj,
Look around the world and the failures are much greater. We humans not only fail to spread the Gospel and mock those that do but we also lie, cheat, steal and kill. The list of trangressions is endless. But is that not the beauty of Christ's message - that despite it all there is reason for hope, reason for joy? This is where I try to focus, on the joy that fills my life through Jesus.
Grace to you,
Vince
