The book that helped my prayer life
I am currently on a kick where I've read more Carson books that non-Carson books over the last few months. However, A Call to Spiritual Reformation is my favorite.
Probably not because it is the best, but because before I read the book I sucked at prayer. I struggled with man's accountability in prayer and let my understanding of God's Sovereignty trump my prayer life. I blatantly disobeyed 1 Thes 5:17, because I was unable to see the point. Carson walked me through about 10 prayers by Paul and showed me what a prayer life should look like. He then rocked my world with talking through Man's Accountability and God's Sovereignty. I haven't had a single book (and the exegesis of Scripture within) make such a daily impact on my life. I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants improvement in their pray life. I'm currently working on a 3 part blog of what I've learned from this book. I hope to finish it sometime before I finish my next book.
